Introduction

Hi, and thanks for checking this out. I am XxNataliaxX, Currently a Silver 3 on the EU West Server (XxWolfieNatxX)and Thanks to the new provisional system a Bronze 4 on the NA server 9XxNataliaxX). I am a "jack of all roles" so to speak. I do not have a main role but main Champs, like Nami for the support role.

Ok, so lets talk Nami. why should you pick the squishy fish for a support against the likes of Leona, Morgana, Thresh and Blitzcrank ? Well, Here is my humble opinion.

First off.....If you cannot or do not want to play Nami with a Jinx personality ( meaning Psychotic) THIS GUIDE IS NOT FOR YOU!!!!!!!

Pros / Cons

Pros +
abilities include Heal, Slow, Stun, and knock up
low cooldowns
versatile to play styles ( passive, aggressive, psycho)
has decent damage late game to help in teamfights
Can turn teamfights into a win with one or two abilities.
Nobody expects Nami to come out swinging or being aggressive.


Cons -
shes a fish ;)
squishy (not a front line support like Leona or Alistar )
slow moving even with boots
semi unpredictable bounce from Ebb and Flow
Lots of comments of KS from your adc if he likes to turret dive and you heal him and kill the other teams champ.

ok so "My Rune setup" for Nami. Yes I understand that it looks like a mid. However the extra AP will help your initial heals in the early games, and your pokes. Due to increased ability power you can hit your opponent first with Ebb and Flow and still heal your adc enough to sustain the lane.

Summoner Spells

Here is where you will get most of the snide comments of 'Nami take exhaust or Heal". Stand your ground. Your kit has Has a slow Tidecaller's Blessing, a Stun Aqua Prison, a heal Ebb and Flow and a knockup with slow Tidal Wave.

I usually take
Flash....you are slow, there is no denying it. So a getaway is needed.

Ignite, cause sometimes when they get away laughing, Nami really laughs last.

Some other viable options

I use this if the adc goes with ignite instead of the meta Heal.

Skill Sequence

Again, This is MY skill sequence. The reason I use this one is because 95 pervcent of the time I do not need the slow of Tidecaller's Blessing to land my Aqua Prison. Hoever If you have issues landing your q, use the alternate skill sequence at the end of this chapter.

So I start with Ebb and Flow then Aqua Prison. Starting with W will give you a great poke and sustain for your adc. use it to back up the other bot lane so your adc can farm. The great thing with Ebb and Flow is the bounce. If the other lane is running past the tower and your adc is chasing, cast it on him to either damage the other lane and have the adc get an easier kill or kill the other teams champ ( Warning: May piss off your adc, but hes healed and will get out of turret fire without giving a kill)

As I said above If you have problems landing your Aqua Prison Use this alternate skill sequence using a Point in Tidecaller's Blessing earlier in order to slow the enemy champ. Cast it on yourself or the adc slow the champ then land your Aqua Prison.

Items

Please remember YOU ARE NOT A TANK!!!! Dont try to act like one.

Starting out

Spellthief's Edge to help with your gold (You will not go past this and sell it later)
Stealth Ward For Vision
Health Potion
Mana Potion
Stealth Ward

At least 900 gold for first back, so stay alive

Sightstone help keep adc alive
Vision Ward
Mana Potion However many you can get with the remaining gold OR
Forbidden Idol if you stayed out long enough
and change your Stealth Ward to a Sweeping Lens

After Sightstone I use this item sequence

Morellonomicon For cd reduction and mana regen
Sorcerer's Shoes for damage help
Rabadon's Deathcap Heals and damage
Void Staff Damage

Your last item ...if you get that far....I use a few options

Athene's Unholy Grail more mana and cd reduction....Mostly use this one
Zhonya's Hourglass Defense and Damage

Warding

Im going to add this chapter cause I noticed a lot of people don't really know.

FIRST OFF: It is NOT soley the supports job to ward. You get 4 viable wards. 3 with your Sightstone and 1 with your Vision Ward. you will need help to light up the map everywhere. So to start if you use my item build you should have your Stealth Ward and your Stealth Ward. Depending who you are up against in lane is where your wards should go during lane phase. If you are going against a lane with a range cc like Morgana, Alistar, or Leona or a pull like Blitzcrank or Thresh, use your Stealth Ward in one of the lane bushes. They like to hide there. Keep vision in the closest on you are farming at to not get surprised.

If you are being pushed, use the Stealth Ward on the Tri-bush if youre on the blue side or the River bush on the red side.


Once you have 900 gold, back and get a Sightstone and a Vision Ward. Also change your trinket from the Stealth Ward to a Sweeping Lens.

Now as you come back. Use the Vision Ward in the tri-bush. No matter the side you're on. Your river ward should go further up the river than just the bush/ place it in the middle of the river in front of the Dragon . This covers two things. Dragon and a longer warning system for anyone coming down the river.

Use wards in lane at discretion (see above). As the game progresses, start placing wards at intersections of the jungle to continue vision of where they are going. Again ask for help you cannot ward the whole map yourself like so many people seem to think.

Combos

ok so Nami does have some nice combos. Late game, yes you can kill some of the squishier champs with them. Early and mid use them to win teamfights and help the adc get kills

so easiest combo pre 6 using my standard skill sequence.

Aqua Prison- Ebb and Flow

Use this to poke and trade with the adc and support during lane phase. The adc hopefully will take advantage of this and get a few AA's or skills off too.


Post 6

Tidecaller's Blessing on self-AA- Aqua Prison-AA- Ebb and Flow-AA- Tidal Wave- Ebb and Flow Massive Damage Late game it will kill most AD Carries.

You can use the same combo in teamfights but start with

Tidal Wave-AA- Tidecaller's BlessingSelf-AA- Aqua Prison-AA- Ebb and Flow

Again massive CC and damage. There is no limit of the champs in the bubble of Aqua Prison If they are close together hit em all with it.

Unique Skills

Some unique uses of the skills and some advice to using Aqua Prison:

Your passive Surging Tides increases your movement speed. use it to get away. When running use Tidecaller's Blessing on yourself, cast Aqua Prison behind you to catch the chasers, then Ebb and Flow Heals you and increases your speed again. Wash and repeat.

Remember when using Aqua Prison watch the movemebt speed of who you are targeting, think Volibear in his sprint and lead him ( that means cast the bubble where he should be when it lands) Works with Master Yi he may not be able to be slowed in ulti but he sure can be stopped.

Special Hint for fights against Katarina Wait for her to Ulti and use bubble on her it stops that deadly spin in its tracks. Also Warwick and Malzahar will have their ultis stopped by that tiny little bubble.

Tidal Wave is a great initiator for a teamfight or to change the outcome of it.
