Introduction

Hello, and welcome to my League of Legends Build Guide, featuring Ryze, the Rogue Mage. Ryze is a Tanky DPS champion who can be played as a jungler (not really), but is best at laning. His passive reduces the cooldowns on his abilities by 1 second for each spell cast, allowing him to spam spells more often whenever he has a Triforce, giving tons of damage. His Q is a spammable damage spell scaling off AP and max mana which also gives passive Cooldown Reduction. His W is a snare which scales off his AP and max mana. His E scales off his AP and bounces between enemies, lowering their magic resist with each bounce. His R gives you spell vamp and AoE spell damage. You are going to be dealing tons of damage with your Triforce.

Runes

So for your runes you are gonna wanna take Armor Pen reds and Quints, Flat Armor or HP yellows, and Flat CDR blues.

With reds and quints, you can take flat ad reds instead, but armor penetration helps you more in the long run, especially if the enemy team is stacking armor. AD per level runes are viable also if you want the extra damage in later levels. Just choose what you want to use, but I use armor pen the most.

Yellows are mostly personal preference, can't stand running out of mana in lane? Get mana per level. Always thought you could have survived that last tick of ignite? Get flat or per level health seals. Want to shake off some minor harassment in lane? Get flat armor.

Finally blue runes are really straight forward, and since blues are really catered to casters, there aren't many options for DPS Ryze. I use flat cooldown reduction since 9 of those and your maxed out sorcery on the offense tree means 9% cooldown redution at lvl 1. Please don't get per level cooldown reduction, they are cheaper to buy for a reason. Sure it's quite a bit of reduction at level 18, but if you get items that give you cooldown reduction or get blue buff, then it's really, really easy to exceed the 40% cooldown reduction cap and you're not getting the most out of your buff or item.

Masteries

21/0/9 is a solid choice for DPS Ryze. Getting the longer buff duration boost your ability to chase and spam spells and not running out of mana helps too, you are going to want to get Red and Blue buffs as often as you can. Just don't steal them from your jungler. Extra experience is a no-brainer and it can be helpful if you're farming jungle creeps.
Also, Good Hands is 50 billion times better than Perseverance, since 4% of your total mana/health regen is almost nothing while 10% of your death timer is acually quite a bit (10% of 60 sec is 6 sec).

Items

You're gonna wanna start off with a Mana Crystal and 2 HP potions, don't get mana potions since 100 mana for 40 gold is too expensive and not worth it in my opinion, you shouldn't run out of mana in the laning phase as long as you use your abilities frugally. Use the mana crystal to build a Tear. Then buy Ionian Boots of Lucidity putting you at 24% cooldown redution (40% is you getting blue buff), building into a Manamune after that. The best thing about Ryze is that you can still do great damage with your abilities since they scale off you your max mana.
Next, you will want to buy a Sheen so that your auto attacks can start doing some damage, building that into a Triforce getting the Phage first. Next, buy Gunblade getting Bilgewater first to get your lifesteal, damage, and a active that will slow and deal damage to your opponents, the extra spellvamp and ap helps too. After Gunblade, you will want to buy an Infinity Edge. This will significantly increase your damage output. Your final build item will be a Phantom Dancer. Though realistically your games will probably not go long enough for you to get your full build. Some people might say in the comments, "This has no defensive items, I'll die instantly!" You know what I say to that? Screw defense, you're DPS Ryze!

Skill Sequence

W is the spell you should be getting first, it deals its damage instantly after choosing a target in range, greatly enhancing your ability to last hit. You will need to be farming a lot with this build, so make sure you always last hit. Then, you will put points in E and Q at levels 2 and 3 respectively, and then max your W, followed by your E. Your skills should be like this:
R>W>E>Q
Get your ultimate at levels 6, 11, and 16, but seriously, do I have you tell you that?

Summoner Spells

For summoners, the only spells I bring are Teleport and Exhaust. Teleport makes it easier to get back to lane after buying items (or stopping that bastard Yi trying to backdoor), and exhaust boosts your ability to 1v1, gank or can be a last ditch defense mechanism. An alternative to Teleport is Ghost, in order to give you escapability and letting you chase. Do not bring any other summoner spells but these. These are Ryze's favorites.
If you get revive or even think about using it, then go uninstall the game and do something productive.

Ranked Play

Why do I even have this section? You should only be using this build in Ranked, it's too OP for Normal or Versus AI. People will report you for cheating. Heck, that might even happen in Ranked, but at least it won't happen as often. So only play Ranked with this build, if people call you a noob for using this build, it's because your teammates are jealous of you and the enemy team is just butthurt because you raped them so hard.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
- You will rape face.
- Your spells will still do tons of damage.
- Your DPS will be off the charts.

Cons:
- You may be reported for hax
- Survivability is mediocre until you get Gunblade. Use Desperate Power to heal until then.
- You might accidentally impregnate some of the people whose faces you raped with this build.(their fault for not using protection)
