nice build but you should try Nashor's Tooth over phantom for getting your cdr cap even if its a little less attack speed but again i didn't test it but it could work.

As already stated above, a Nashor's Tooth would be a great idea, although, I think that only the Stinger would already be benefitial, if you come to think of it, NT would be REAAAAAALLY expensive and wouldn't provide movement speed like a Phantom Dancer does...

+1, and it's NOT a troll build at all, xD only thing is: Spell Flux becomes completely useless, just as you stated, and therefore, you lose that little tickle of burst, but to be honest, it's damage wasnt even THAT great... If you come to think of it, even as AP Ryze, you wouldn't deal as much damage as you would with Overload and Rune Prison

Considering how your dmg is still mainly magic and that ryze is the tankies mage out there I would not take berseker's greave but rather either sorc or merc.

I would build madreds rather then malady.

I would still buy RoA for the extra mana and health rather then fantom dancer. Or at least a trinity force.

And I would still use 9-0-21 so that I have 40% CDR with my Frozen heart.

Taking Manamune over AAS is what makes the difference. Manamune is cheaper and it charges the mana pool bonus faster(2s CD rather then 4s).

The concept is not troll but the build itself can be improved.

I use something very similar when facing Veigar.

Yeah, I didn't get nashors or stinger because 34% cd is pretty nice already. I went 26/0/4 because I felt that I'd get more damage from the offense side. Going down the utility lane jsut for an extra 6% cdr didnt feel worth it. I also got malady over madreds because I wanted the atk speed and the MR redcution adds on to my spells. Madreds is a nice idea, but you won't be able to atk fast enough to make full use of it.

lol. madred has the same att speed as malady. Its ok, most poeple forget that madreds gives attack speed also.

9-0-21 also gives you more xp, cdr on summoner spell, movement speed, mana regen. but 21-0-9 is good i guess. Its a matter of personal opinion.

I really like this. It still gives you a lot of mana just like normal ryze. His Ap scalings aren't that good so it doesnt matter. You do kinda feel the lack of RoA but this is compensated by the cheapness of Manamune. I love it +1
