Introduction
This guide will show you how to dominate your lane, regardless of your opponent.
For runes, I run magic penetration. People tend to think that Warwick's damage comes from his autoattacks. However, his Q does about half of his damage. With such a short cooldown, it makes his damage skyrocket if you run magic penetration runes. Armor and magic resist are key to surviving the damage you take from your opponent. Flat armor and MR runes are good for that early game dominance.
For masteries, I like to go 9/21/0. The attack damage is good for damage, considering that most of your damage is magic. Magic penetration is always a good addition to Warwick's strong skillset. Defensive masteries help him stay in lane, and make damage to him futile. The cooldown reduction is great for his Hungering Strike.
Maxing Q first will give you strong damage and sustain. The fact that the cooldown reduces for every single level makes it a must-have for top lane Warwick. I prefer to have Blood Scent maxed second because its range is HUGE at max level. Hunter's Call is good to max second if you find yourself invading the enemy jungle a lot while your lane is pushed. Get his ultimate whenever possible, because the cooldown is ridiculously short.
Some possible starting items for Warwick are: Doran's Ring, Cloth Armor + 5 Potions, Boots + 3 Potions, and Doran's Shield.
I like to start Doran's Ring against people who cannot harass me or outdamage me. Cloth Armor is good for those people who can trade with you early or harass you a lot.(i.e. Kennen, Nidalee, etc.)
Doran's Shield is for those harassers who don't deal enough damage to hurt you too much. People like Shen would fit this category.
Boots + 3 Potions is for those people who have decent damage, but need to be close to hurt you (i.e. Singed, Akali, etc.)
Doran's Ring is for the other champs who can't outdamage your sustain.
Building Wriggles allows you to counterjungle the enemy while keeping top lane pushed. Wit's End is good for some extra damage on your ultimate and autoattacks. Frozen Heart gives you tankiness, and Guardian Angel makes people not want to focus you. Void Staff is for lategame when people get smart and build magic resist. Sell your Wriggles at the end for possibly Randuins or something good for teamfights.
Some people like to build Spirit Visage. I don't like it. Warwick can't stay in range long enough to dish out autoattacks for his passive.

Take Flash for closing gaps quickly and jumping over walls. Ignite gives you strong burst on your autoattack > Q > R > Ignite > auto > Q combo.
Ghost is an okay option, but Blood Scent already helps enough. Exhaust isn't bad, but I don't like it on Warwick. Clarity is useless. Smite is for jungle. Teleport is alright, but Warwick is fast enough without it.

Assert your dominance from the beginning. Play aggressive, but be wary of enemy jungler ganks. Don't be too rambo early. You're still killable early game. Farm well, and stay alive. They can't kill you if you play smart. Farming is the key to victory. Fifteen minions is equal to one champion kill in your lane.
This is where you start to shine. With a Wit's End, your ultimate does ridiculous amounts of damage. The enemy can't handle your sustain with your Wriggles Lantern. Your basic combo should be:
Autoattack > Q > R > Ignite > Autoattack > Q
This should take out a nice chunk of their HP. Your ult is on a pretty short cooldown, so don't be afraid to use it when you think you can kill them. Save it for jungle ganks if you're losing the lane. Whatever damage they dish out, heal yourself with a good Q.
