Ok, first of all, one of Malphite's greatest benefits is ground slam, you can use it to slow enemy attack speed and help your allies survive when your opponents ARE NOT ATTACKING YOU, so in most cases it would be better to level that up all the way before shard. Second, as Dewo said, you will be mana starved all the time without Soraka, and Frozen Heart should be taken for mana, AND cooldown resist, AND reducing the other team's damage. Like most builds, this seems to rely on your teammates being superior to the other team anyway, and the other team being composed mainly of physical dps characters and maybe 1 nuke, and they decide they all want to focus YOU. Because your build has very little in the way of armor or mag resist, if your opponents get bloodrazer, deal damage based on health, get enough armor or mag resist, or save you for last you do not contribute enough to the team. So I'd suggest getting frozen heart, a bit more armor, possibly a randuin's omen so that you can slow the enemy team and deal more damage so that your team is more likely to survive.

Soraka can restore that... If you use it to get a kill with taric then it does not matter... Mana pots...

OK, 1st of all you cant take seismic shard on lvl 8.
you will be mana starved all the time i suggest taking Frozen Heart for mana pool or some kind of mana regen item. Even Chalice can be a good choice since it also gives Magic res.

Assuming your playing 3's, you push your lane up to the turret. Then when you reach the turret you and your taric jungle one group of mobs while the other guy pushes back. Then you gank him. With slows and stuns and ignight you get at least 1 kill if not 2 kills espeically if they try and kill you. Then your other lane-er pushes your lane with you and you get about 1/3-2/3 of the turret hp down. Then you do it again. If you are smart about it and your healer suport knows when to burst dps then you should get a nice turret kill. Once that turret is down it is SO easy to gank that lane since you can use the more foward entrance.

If they are turret hugging we always jungle a bit because we find it gives more xp and allows the other team to move foward enough so we can kill.

We only realy need to push turrets on a single or double kill, and with the tarric I play with (who uses a lot of atk speed/dodge) he can actually heal me through turret damage if we so choose towards the start of mid game, (that is if you got a few kills). He also plays with an atk power soraka and usally can clear up mobs in 2-3 casts of moonfire so we often push so fast they turret hug the whole time and you can't get much turret killing action. If the other team however is ignoring your lane or you are just blowing them up (they would have to be realy bad or they over push or somthing) then yes I do push up brutal srtikes.

However. Lets say that your not able to go for the turret kill because you just killed 1 of the other team not two. One of you can hold the other lane while the other jungles. While your mobs are at their turret. This allows both of you to level faster. Then taric or soraka can aoe the grouped up mobs as they gather towards your turret and you can begin pushing again.

I find that more often then not on GOOD teams you will only get a single kill before the other one gets away due to you not having mana or w/e it is. So you may not end up at the turret most of the time.

It does depend on your 3'rd and if he is a compitent lane soloer and what class he is.

In 5's we play the lane with the blue mana regen buff and taric/soraka just ownes everything and I can probibly just get brutal strikes and own turrets. But if I play with Soraka who has the blue buff she uses her mana restore on ME so I just spam the slowing wheel of DEATH! It is awsome for harasing.

Like everything in this game it is situational. But this is the basic guide to how I play malphite.

I could see Turret Pushing being good with Taric's Ult and your Brutal Strikes, but you don't start stacking that until late game, so early turret pushing looks out of the question. Do you change this any if that situation occurs?
