Threats to Udyr with this build
|Lee Sin||Your passive is almost as good as his early game, you also have a shield and movespeed to nullify his movespeed slow, now that his attack speed slow has been removed he is even weaker, if he jumps to you with q, enter bear stance and stun him and run off. The only annoying part is his wardjumping, take flash in this matchup.|
|Kha'Zix||Weaker than you at all stages in the game, even with his isolation damage he should never kill you 1v1 as he is squishy, he usually evolves his w or e in the jungle so finding him and killing him is even easier. Just make sure you got wards to stop his passive. You can beat him by turtle stancing his q, his healing is pretty good in duels, however you should win since he is much squishier than you.|
I am a Gold V jungle main called EpilepticRabbit on the EUW servers with 40 games in ranked with Udyr, he is by far my most played and best champ. Here's a print screen. I was inspired by trick2g as I was desperatly stuck in silver and I knew i could get out, but I needed the right champ, I searched and found Trick2G Udyr, at first I thought he was a troll but when I realised what he did I was amazed, I quickly learned and tried to bring that kind of playstyle to my games, 20-30 games later I was in Gold as I aced my first Silver 1 promos with Udyr in a 3-0 clean win. Alot of this build have been adaptations to what I have found most suitable.

About Trick2G, the player who inspired me to play Udyr.
This guy is an Udyr main, who has revolutionized the Udyr playstyle, he has mained Udyr since season 2 and has over 600 ranked games as him on all his accounts, of which his main NA account is currently in Diamond 1 and all his others are in Diamond or High Plat. Here some screen shots of his main NA account.
About Udyr, The Spirit Walker
According to lolwiki Udyr's current stats are as they stand here.As you can see his offensive and defensive powers are quite high, 80% and 70% respectively.
Udyr is unlike other champions, he is an exclusively melee champion who enhances his attack power using spells. Each one of his spells is a "stance" and gives him a temporary effect and persistent once, for example his easiest one to grasp concept of is his Turtle Stance, his activation effect is a 5 second shield, and his persisent effect is a % lifesteal bonus. This is key to playing Udyr consistently well and abusing his power.
Each time Udyr switches stances, he gains 5 flat movement speed and 10% attack speed for 5 seconds. This effect can stack up to 3 times.
Strong early and late game, try not to let this run out by activating an ability just before it does, keeping this at 3 stacks in fights or when ganking is crucial as you have no jump/dashes/blinks.
Tiger Stance COST: 47 / 44 / 41 / 38 / 35 MANA COOLDOWN: 6 STANCE ACTIVATION: Udyr gains attack speed for 5 seconds. Udyr will perform a Tiger Stance Tiger Strike with his first basic attack after activation, dealing bonus physical damage over 2 seconds to the target.
ATTACK SPEED BONUS: 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70%
TOTAL BONUS DAMAGE OVER TIME: 30 / 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 (+ 120 / 130 / 140 / 150 / 160% AD)
PERSISTENT EFFECT: Udyr's basic attacks deal bonus physical damage equal to 15% of his attack damage.
This is Udyr's main damage spell in Tiger Udyr, for that build you max this first and it will do insane damage due to the high AD you will be building and the damage over time factor, always proc the first damage over time effect, so that you can reactivate it for double damage over time. By building damage you also do persistent increased damage due to your persistent effect. This is very OP in trades at all stages in the game.
Turtle Stance COST: 47 / 44 / 41 / 38 / 35 MANA COOLDOWN: 6
STANCE ACTIVATION: Udyr gains a shield for up to 5 seconds.
SHIELD STRENGTH: 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+ 50% AP)
PERSISTENT EFFECT: Udyr gains life steal.
LIFE STEAL: 10 / 12 / 14 / 16 / 18%
Although this is pretty weak early game, always activate this before entering a fight with a camp for the activation effect, then activate it once whenever it's off cooldown to get the shield, late game if you need to heal and can't go back to base, go into turtle stance and clear 3-4 camps and you should be at full health again, in trades use this to absorb upfront damage or poke, also try to use this to save yourself from DoT spells such as Ignite or Malefic Visions.
Bear Stance COST: 47 / 44 / 41 / 38 / 35 MANA COOLDOWN: 6
STANCE ACTIVATION: For a short duration, Udyr gains increased movement speed, ignores unit collision, and performs a short dash towards enemy champions he stuns with his attacks.
MOVEMENT SPEED BONUS: 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35%
MOVEMENT SPEED DURATION: 2 / 2.25 / 2.5 / 2.75 / 3
PERSISTENT EFFECT: Udyr's basic attacks stun the target for 1 second.
The dash and stun cannot reoccur on the same target within 6 seconds.
This is your main ganking ability, it gives movespeed and a stun which is point and click, this can be used on all target saround you once every 6 seconds. There will be a small indicator to time it for you. This is amazing at chasing or escaping as the MS with your Monkey's Agility and runes and masteries plus boots can let you abuse movespeed quite alot.
Greater Mark of Attack Speed
Greater Seal of Scaling Armor
Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction
Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist
Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed
x9= 9 scaling Armor is very good game to stop camps hurting as much, it also scales well into late game with your other items.
x6= 5% cooldown at level one is strongso you can spam your spells ever so more often, however Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reductionx6 is also very good.
x3= You won't need that much MR early, and you have some from your masteries, then you will scale better too.
x3=Take this hands down, I've experimented with MANY runes and this is the best setup, you will have easier ganks and escapes, and harder to kite.
Udyr is now build tank due to cinderhulk. It works well with phoenix activation. This setup gives you the magic resist and armor that you lack at early levels due to going cooldowns and scalings in the runes. The 9 in offense is for better clears and of course cooldown, the 9 in utility gives you some more movespeed and sustain.
Block - Take this because damage reduction is good and it is pretty good for a tier 1 mastery.
Tough Skin - This is great at helping you take less damage from camps, especially in early levels, it can also help you in a level 2/3 fight with the junler, you can aggro the camp and you will walk behind him so that he tanks the camps.
Veteran's Scars - Take 3 point in this as it will make you tanky, and early health is always good.
Bladed Armor - Faster clears and does %hp on the camps so it is good, it cannot kill the camp so don't worry about taking blue off mid by accident while tanking.
Tenacious - This is now a tier 3 mastery instead of tier 6 which i find absurdly OP, even though you lose 5% tenacity it is amazing, do not pass up on this.
Juggernaut - You will be building a lot of health, this will give you an extra 100-120 health at level 18, an about 20-30 at low levels, this is a scaling veteran's scars for 1 point, absolutely amazing.
Hardiness / Resistance you can take 2/3 or 3/2 depending on the team, you can even take 3/1 or 1/3 and then take 1 point in the 5th tier mastery, Reinforced Armor or Evasive , however I only advise doing this is they have a Tryndamere/ Yasuo in top AND an AD jungler, in AP heavy teams take the other one.
Adaptive Armor - This is the only thing I take in this tier usually because you take 7 point in the previous one, and the Perseverance is only good if you take Second Wind which you do not, so you take this to give you mad bonus armor or magic resist, usually this will give you extra armor of about 10 so yeah.
Enchanted Armor - I take 3 points in this and then 1 point in oppression because I find the 2.5% armor and magic resist isn't good as the %damage reduction
Oppression - Take this because this cannot be shredded and is scaling, it also means that you will take less from aoe effects from hindered targets.
Legendary Guardian - Now the last defensive mastery, I still find this to be very strong and take it as it is the bread and butter of Udyr, be in the middle of the team so you will maximise this almost every fight.
Level 2 cheese. (JUNGLEDYR)
Much simpler, you have your normal starting items, do this by starting at the same buff as your enemy, and take a camp extra such as wolf or the raptor s camps. This will give you enough xp to hit level 3 just by stealin the enemies buff, if you want to kill them make sure you stay in the bush at the buff and ward over the wall if it's at blue buff. Also a key thing is for Tiger Stance is that you activate it before you arrive if you plan on killing them, and then hit them, then activate Tiger Stance again for double damage over time effect, this is very effective when your AD is around 80 with Tiger Stance, if they decide to fight you make sure you DO NOT tank the buff as it will get aggro'd and attack you causing you to die much quicker, I have lost trades due to this.
I have made a video on this explaining it in great detail and my choices too, you can find it here.
Bans and Picks
Udyr can be picked into ANY comp, however I will give an example of a team that you want to try and get, remember that you need atleast 2 tanks!!
Always ban the 3 champs that I put on my bans team, this is because they have ridiculous base damage, or are too hard to deal with. Vlad is OP since he does the damage of a mid and as tanky as the top, annie has NO counter play, and then last you ban vayne or nasus as they both counter you directly, and can outscale you.
