Introduction

Hello Mobafire community, this is my first guide out there. My name is Jungle Ekko Bot, I'm Platinum elo player, who is maining AD Evelynn right now to quite a good success.

I'm not native english speaker, so there may be some errors and mistakes in the text, don't beat me too hard for them.

Here are some screenshots of me playing around with this build:

Lore

Evelynn's origins are shrouded in mystery - a mystery she herself helps to perpetuate. What everyone does know about Evelynn, however, is that she is one of the most skilled assassins in Valoran. It is clear upon first meeting her that she is not quite human. Some theorize that she was cursed with a mild form of fantastical vampirism as a child. Supporters of this theory contend that her ability to sap the very life essence of her opponents on (and off) the Fields of Justice, while still being able to tolerate direct sunlight, would account for this belief. There is some evidence that Evelynn originally came from the Shadow Isles - the mysterious island located northwest of Valoran that is eternally blanketed by a thick, unnatural fog. It is thought that the Shadow Isles are home to countless forms of undead, though no one seems eager to perform the exploration necessary to find out the truth. Evelynn neither confirms nor denies her connection to Shadow Isles.

The power brokers of Valoran know that Evelynn's services come at the highest of premiums, and her recent addition to the League of Legends indicates that her ambitions are growing. Her savagery on the Fields of Justice has been so great that new rumors about her origins are now circulating. The most popular one - an abuse of magic as a child morphed her into the hungering beast her opponents see on the battlefield - always makes her smile when hearing it... an act which bares her razor-sharp fangs and teeth. Evelynn now curries favor from League summoners, gaining influence for reasons known only to her. While the nature of her plans- much like almost everything else about her - remains unknown, there's little doubt that those plans are now set on the world stage.

Pros / Cons

Pros of Evelynn:
+ She is REALLY fun to play
+ Global map pressure because of invision
+ Easy ganks because people are not buying pink wards even in plat elo
+ Good escape/chase with dark frenzy
+ Awesome counter jungling
+ Decent jungle clears

Cons of Evelynn:
- No Hard CC
- Can be counter jungled by Nidalee/Rengar/early game junglers
- Need to get used to the invisibility range
- Easy to play, hard to master
- You have to position properly

Overall, Evelynn is played like an assassin, who bursts down squshies. She is pretty easy to play, but hard to master. You have to get used to invisibility range and also position yourself properly in fights. Ganks are pretty easy even without hard cc/level 6, because most people don't buy pink wards in low elo(and maybe even low diamond) and they don't really expect you. Also you can counterjungle pretty hard, your damage is pretty high level 2-4, you can 1v1 most of the junglers.

AD Build Pros:
+ A lot more survivability due to high resistances/hp
+ AWESOME burst, nobody expects you to deal so much damage.
+ Sticky enough if you build trinity/IBG/frozen mallet
+ You have awesome SUSTAINED damage, which means you stay in fights longer than AP evelynn and you deal more damage due to fervor being stacked together with more autos.
+ You can be your team's tank and ENGAGE fights without fearing that you will die

AD Build Cons:
- You are mostly single target damage dealer.

Summoner Spells

allows you to escape bad situations or to help get that last auto on your foe.

You must have Smite in the jungle to buy jungle items, clear without problems and also get control of objectives. Must have.

is allowed to use instead of Flash if you feel like you want to cheese early levels really hard, but I don't ever use it, because I feel like you will waste late game power of chasing/escaping/ambushing people. Possible, but, IMO, not best option.

Laning:

allows you to roam map really hard, get back to lane if you're getting poked down and help you splitpushing. My choice for lane is mostly always Teleport

Against some hard AP match-ups like Lux or LeBlanc I would take Barrier if I'm afraid of getting down.

Against AD assassins like Zed or Talon I would probably consider taking Exhaust because it negates their burst really hard and allows you to fight back.

Abilities and Rotations

Our awesome invisibility passive, which allows us to roam around the map being unseen. Enemies can only see us by being in it's range or by roaming around enemy pink wards.

IMPORTANT:

if you have baron buff, you can stay near minions to give them buff without enemies seeing you. That allows you to push pretty safe.

Max this second, because we are not AP and we are not sticky enough early to deal a lot of damage with Q, but it deals decent damage and allows us to kill targets, who try to run away. Also Q is used to kite enemies pretty hard.

Max last. Our escape/chase me spell. Allows you to drop down ALL SLOWS and run away/chase an enemy. Gives us pretty big MS bonus and resets on champion kill/assist.

Max first. Our bread and butter skill. Has highest AS steroid bonus in the game. Used to get burst and generate Fervor of Battle stacks, because it procs on-hit effects.

Max whenever you can. Our engage skill. Use it on the very start of a fight, and try to catch as many champions as you can in this skill, because every champion hit increases the shield. You can't finish enemies with this skill, because it deals CURRENT %HP damage. Also used to slow enemies on ganks

Skill rotations, that I use while playing Evelynn

Burst squishy if he's nearby:

Agony's Embrace -> Hextech Gunblade -> Ravage -> Hate Spike -> AA -> Dark Frenzy

Burst squishy if he's a bit far:

Dark Frenzy -> Agony's Embrace -> Hextech Gunblade -> Ravage -> Hate Spike -> AA -> Dark Frenzy

Ambush:

Flash -> Agony's Embrace -> Hextech Gunblade -> Ravage -> Hate Spike -> AA

99.99% enemy squishy won't expect you and you will burst him, even if he uses Heal or Barrier

Escape:

Dark Frenzy -> Agony's Embrace -> Hextech Gunblade(if needed to slow further) -> Flash(if needed)

Poke in-lane:

Hate Spike -> Hate Spike

if opponent is melee and you can auto/E then it should be something like:

Hate Spike -> Hate Spike -> E -> AA

Always use your E first, because it gives AS steroid.

Jungle clearing:

Hate Spike monsters in line -> Ravage on the big one -> Smite -> AA -> Hate Spike

Masteries

T1: Sorcery > Fury because it improves our burst with E / Q / R.
T2: IMO Double Edged Sword is the best, but it is possible to take Expose Weakness if you will be more like a tank, so your teammates going to damage more and Feast if you want to sustain more in the jungle.

T3: Natural Talent gives you both stats you're using (AD and AP), but it's possible to take Vampirism if you like it more. I prefer NT as it improves our damage.
T4: Both are possible, but as I'm playing aggressive and taking kills myself, I love to take Bounty Hunter .
T5: Battering Blows , because our E is phys. damage and we deal a lot of damage with Autos.
T6: Fervor of Battle , other masteries in that tear are bad.

T1: Both are possible, I prefer to run Wanderer because it gives us a bit more power to roam around the map.
T2: Take either Runic Affinity if you like to farm more or Assassin , which I prefer more because we are still playing like assassin.
T3: Merciless , no comments.
T4: Also no comments, we are not support, so Dangerous Game .

Other choices:

You could go 12/18 with Thunderlord's Decree and Precision mastery, but I don't think you need it, Thunderlord's Decree CD is pretty big and you're tanky enough to stay in fights longer to proc Fervor of Battle damage.

Items

Item choices explanation:

Evelynn has strong 1v1's because of her abilities. Red smite helps you a lot to 1v1, and even to 1v2, because it gives 20% damage reduction and helps you by dealing true damage over time, coupled with red smite, you will deal a lot of DoT damage.

Trinity Force is the best item made for AD Evelynn especially with changes in 6.11. Why is it so good on Evelynn? First of all, sheen procs, Evelynn can use sheen procs with Q every time it goes up from CD. Secondly, it helps us get that 40% CDR, Evelynn loves CDR because her Q is already a small CD ability and it helps you get your ult and E much faster. Thirdly, a lot of AS with Stinger changes, some tankiness AND as a bonus, passive from Phage. As Evelynn you want to stick on targets, you can do it in 2 ways: either you get Iceborn Gauntlet or Trinity Force, but as I highly recommend getting Trinity Force because it has 200% base AD ratio on Spellblade (sheen procs) while Iceborn Gauntlet only has 100% ratio.

It gives everything Evelynn player would want. AD, AP, damaging and slowing active effect, AND as a bonus - 15% heal! That's a lot if you couple it with Spirit Visage and Red buff, this heal can save you life in 1v1 or 2v1 fights. It also helps bursting and chasing enemies.

It gives you everything Evelynn likes: CDR, Health, MR and an awesome passive, which helps you heal up more with Hextech Gunblade, Red buff, Warmog's Armor.
I don't like Banshee, after it got nerfed down really hard, if you are afraid of getting bursted by champions like Lux you should consider getting Maw of Malmortius

Wut? Death's Dance on Evelynn? Are you kidding me? why?
The answer is, it helps really hard when it comes to LATE-LATE game, where you have a lot of money in pocket and you don't know what to build further. First, our Q and E deal a lot of physical damage, because, obviously, we were mostly stacking AD. Second, it's passive lets you survive MUCH longer because you can heal with Hextech Gunblade, Red buff, Warmog's Armor, if you have it and Death's Dance itself. While much people tell me it's a waste on Evelynn I really don't think so. But, if you don't like, then it's up to you. When to swap it? When you have full build and have a lot of spare gold, sell warrior and get this.

SITUATIONAL ITEMS

Usually I build it when I need armor and I'm buying just one item, that has armor, it gives you a big burst and a pretty nice passive to deal with auto-attackers. Build it against Vayne Tryndamere and other summoners, who rely on their autos.

Build only if you desperately need to pierce through tanks, mostly I would build this item only when they have 3 or even 4 tanks/bruisers with a lot of armor.

Build only when your team desperately needs it and nobody have it. Good to build when enemy team has a lot of heals like Dr. Mundo Swain or Soraka

Best item to get when enemy team has 2+ burst mages OR just a lot of magic damage. Take it, it gives everything Evelynn would want. MR, AD and a perfect passive which also improves your survivability be giving you additional lifesteal.

Good item vs high auto-attack reliant champions like Tryndamere, Vayne. Helps you surviving those crits, also allows you to peel for your team a bit with active's slow.

Armor/MR to help you tank damage and a perfect passive which helps Evelynn surviving that initial burst after you've ambushed enemy carry. Makes enemy waste burst on you and kill you TWO times. Also people mostly afraid of focusing you even if you have GA, because they're afraid that you will comeback, so they will mostly change their focus to somebody else.

When you want to be in fights very often, this items comes to my mind, it gives you really big health regeneration, which coupled with Red buff, Hextech Gunblade, Spirit Visage and Death's Dance literally makes you have full bar in 5 seconds of time. Love this item personally.

Usually I only build this item when i'm going full tank route and I need a lot of armor. Gives everything Evelynn would want. Slow, CDR, armor. Tho has only 100% base ad ratio on sheen procs and that's why I prefer taking Trinity Force over Iceborn Gauntlet, it just gives less burst and sustained damage.

What to do at different stages of the game?

Early game:

Evelynn snowballs really hard, if you can, get some early kills and keep pressure around the map, if you can, counter jungle a lot, tax lanes and farm them, when your laner can't do it.

Mid game:

You should keep farming until you have Hextech Gunblade and Trinity Force, keep assassinating people who overextend, if fights happen, try to flank them from behind and kill carries, survive, don't make mistakes.

Late game:

Late game you're either true assassin or a tank engager. Play around baron, get as much towers as you can, keep killing people and don't make mistakes. Remember, that you should punish every mistake your opponent does. Kill them if they overextend, also baron throws are happening pretty much every 1 or 2 games and they help winning game. Having full build makes you feel like terminator, you are nearly unkillable and you're dealing A LOT of SUSTAINED and BURST damage.

Teamfights:

In teamfights, you have 2 roles that you can choose from. You're either playing AD assassin and kill enemy squishy carries. Or you can play as a tank - engager, who will keep their team busy by soaking up damage.

Assassin mode:

Come to kill enemy squishies from behind, start with W if you're a bit far or wait with W until they use escape spell. Always use your ult before starting to fight, it deals current %hp damage and gives you shield. Use your Q's in-between E's and autos. Don't forget to use Hextech Gunblade active to get a little bit more burst. If you have decent amount of hp, continue to help your team by sitting on squishies / or help finishing tanks.

Tank mode:

Come with your team, W in and immediately use your R on as many champions as you can, then proceed to sit on squishies and deal as much damage as you can, if you can - peel for your teammates by giving enemies slow with Iceborn Gauntlet/ Randuin's Omen. Evelynn is not that good peeler, but she can do it for sure.

What to do, when you're behind:

If you're behind as Evelynn it is not a really big problem with AD build, because you're still going to build tanky. Consider farming until you get tank items like Iceborn Gauntlet or Warmog's Armor, don't go out for ganks if you are not sure that enemy will die and you won't waste summoners. If you tend to die A LOT, I would keep an eye to Guardian Angel it helps a lot if you're behind because it literally gives you second life and helps you to stop being focused by enemy team.

Warding routes

Keep high amount of wards on map, always buy pinks, place blue trinket or sweep enemy wards if you have Sweeping Lens.

Best places to ward are your jungle entrances, especially when you're behind, and, of course, Baron / Drake. If you're ahead, you should start warding in enemy jungle, it will give you more information of their location and thus will allow you to react properly.

Jungle Route

Proceed to start, where your bot lane is.

Purple side:
Start at gromp, Smite it, ward behind your blue, in case their jungler want to invade you, then do wolves and scuttle crab, come back to blue, Smite it, recall. Go raptors, then proceed to red, you can Smite it or save your smite for golems. If you have enough HP - gank top or mid. Since now continue farming, gank when you can, show up and keep pressure on map.

Blue side:
Start at golems, Smite big one, ward your red, do raptors, then scuttle, come back to red, Smite it, if you have enough HP - gank bot or mid. Recall, do wolves, blue and gromp, kill scuttle and proceed to kill top or mid, if you can't - try to check counter jungle a bit in the enemy jungle. Continue to farm and look for ganks.
