Dyrus gave some pretty solid advice in an interview recently with Riot:

Quoted:
Fie: What advice would you give for helping friends get better at league?

D:

1 Hit level 30.

2 Show them a guide for their favorite champion for runes, masteries, and items build.

3 Show them a video of someone playing that champion and tell them to watch streamers or higher level players play them.

4 Learn the win condition of your champion.

5 Tell them to have fun, because the better they get the more stressful it gets.

And to be honest, I think that's all you need to succeed in ranked and the game as a whole.

Ok. Win ratio may have nothing in common with a players division. But the point is, that even that silver guy with 60% win ratio loses 40 out or 100 games. And thats the point of that article..

The real issue is that there's no objective way to judge a player's skill. There's so much to say about being visionary and understanding the flow of a game that you can't really "rank" player right.

The whole thing about winrate is ********. It's possible to get placed in diamond 1 and have a negative winrate because you got demoted while you are d2 still, while it's also possible to have a 60% winrate while at silver cause you got placed in bronze

"Do not care about winning"? That makes no sense. In ranked queue you need to climb the ladder(as fast as possible). Even though, tryhard mode to win a game is not really the most enjoyable thing it is actually much better than not giving a ****.

Well, win ratio is usually indeed around 50%. But this doesn't mean that one should simply accept the fact that every second game will be a loss. The more you win, the higher MMR you get. Thus you might also get better teammates. And no it's not the 2% ratio that makes the difference. Consider who you are playing against and who he is playing against and still has 2% more win ratio. That's what makes the difference. Sometimes numbers don't say the whole truth, sadly.

Insta-mute is not the solution. Most flamers actually will give up once you stop giving them the attention. Additionally, you by muting a player you loose play calls, which can often lead to miscommunication. The best thing is just not to get involved and say "relax" or "concentrate on the game", if it goes too extreme.
