Clairvoyance

Introduction

This is an offensive build for Urgot to scale well into late game, in terms of damage, and still maintain some survivability. This build is most effective in a solo lane but can be done in a duo lane. If you have an opinion on the guide please vote and comment!

No one seems to care about alternative ways to build Urgot so I will no longer try to teach.

Runes

The red/quint runes should always be Greater Mark of Desolation and Greater Quintessence of Desolation because it helps your damage greatly throughout the game. Yellow runes can be switched for preference (maybe defense runes instead) but I have found Greater Seal of Replenishment to be highly effective for early game laning (I don't use mana regen per level because mana isn't too much of a problem in mid to late game). I like for late game cooldown reduction (even early game I can hit 3 Acid Hunters each charge so higher early cooldown reduction isn't as necessary). If you do change runes make sure they are primary to maximize their effectiveness.

Masteries

Main benefits of this Mastery Tree are Strength of Spirit , the various CD reductions in Utility, etc. Mostly a defensive mastery set but very solid at all points in the game.
Great if you like using Clairvoyance too.

I usually don't use Ghost but if you do put a point into Haste instead of Perseverence so that the bottom tier looks like 0 3 0 1.

Items

Early Game:

Get as early as possible to maximize mana (and damage) earlier in the game. Standard will help with early chases enough. Finish then to capitalize on Urgot's early dominance. Then finish your boots (Mercury Treads for large cc teams, if you like the speed increase, or if you want to get 4 Acid Hunters in one Corrosive Charge early). Later in the game, it may be a good idea to switch boots out (Ionian Boots to Mercury Treads for example).

Mid to Late Game:

I like (now cheaper due to BF Sword change!!) a lot mostly for its large amount of AD (100 at full charge!) and the vamp can be nice but Urgot isn't much of an auto attacker. can be made earlier than if the enemy team is stacking a ton of armor but this is generally an item to replace your in late game ( should be sold in late game to make room for a better item).

Survivability Items:

, , and are all good options for Urgot late game defense and you can make room for two of them ( should be taken if the other team has a lot of auto-attackers such as , , , etc.). should be taken if you are getting focused a lot and the other two are for Armor/Magic Resist and some nice mana bonuses to contribute to 's unique. is a good armor item too but I prefer for it's large mana bonus (which results in AD and some health regen), cooldown reduction, 46 more armor, and a great passive that reduces enemy damage significantly) especially since the RO nerf.

Items that Should be avoided

: No use for Crit and generally less AD than (at 20 or more minion kills).
: Decent all around stats and bonus movement speed is nice but the main reason to get this (the bonus damage after casting) is not reliable because of Urgot's small basic attack range and because he is not an auto-attacker.
: Again decent attack damage but AS and on-hit effects do not benefit Urgot greatly.
: A decent item for Urgot with some survivability and some AD however the slow is somewhat redundant due to Terror Capacitor and only applies to basic attacks which Urgot is not great at.

: I generally stay away from this item but it can be put into this build if you are getting a ton of kills and should be bought after or . You will be targeted however so some early defense items may be appropriate.

Build 2

This build is just to show other rune/mastery/spell set-ups.

Desolations are an absolute must so never change those. This example is MR heavy with and . These types of rune set-ups are mostly for Ranked Games in which you can see your lane opponent. This can also be done with Armor runes.

Cleanse is my third favorite summoner spell on Urgot so I use it in place of Clairvoyance if my team has another champion with Clairvoyance (commonly Alistar, Janna, Soraka, etc...) It is very useful for high CC teams or especially ganky teams (such as Warwick, Amumu, Alistar, Evelynn, etc...).
I find it is much more useful than Ghost because it can be used DURING the gank while Ghost will rarely save you. It also has a low cool down compared to other spells. However Ghost is better if the opposing team has very light CC (low CC teams are quite rare though). So in Blind Pick matches Cleanse> Ghost and most ranked matches.

The mastery set-up is a much more offensive build than Build 1. This mastery build gives higher damage because of (3 AD) and (6 ArP) while still maintaining benefits. This build will result in better lane dominance early and a little bit better in late game as well however you will lose 3% CDR ( - ) and you will have much longer summoner spell cool downs as well ( + = -51s on Flash CD which this build lacks). You also lose the potency of Clairvoyance so take Cleanse instead (you will also need Cleanse because of a larger Flash CD).

Both builds are solid-it's mostly a matter of which you prefer-so try both.

Summoner Spells

is an absolute must for Urgot players because it can be used defensively to escape and offensively when combined with your Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse. I like but it can be switched depending on preference ( , , , and are all good). can be decent but there are much better choices. does not apply because Urgot does not jungle (besides the occasional red buff in late game). If you feel like you need a lot of the game you should seriously adjust your play style to playing more evasively (Urgot is not an up-close fighter!). is rarely needed early game and never needed late game so avoid it. , , and do not work for Urgot at all (or most champions for that matter).

Skills

Zaun-Touched Bolt Augmenter - Urgot's attacks reduce his targets' damage by 15% for 2.5 seconds.

This passive is great for one-on-one battles and to prevent ganks.

Acid Hunter - Urgot fires an Acid Hunter missile that collides with the first enemy it hits, slowing the target if he has his Terror Capacitor up. Acid Hunter missile-locks on enemies affected by Noxian Corrosive Charge.
Urgot fires a missile towards the cursor that deals 15/45/75/105/135 (+) physical damage.

Missile-lock can be achieved by holding the cursor over a target afflicted by Noxian Corrosive Charge.
Cost
40/40/40/40/40 Mana
Range
25000

Your primary skill and pretty much ALL of your damage. It is low mana cost and low cooldown so feel free to use it for dangerous minion kills as well. Can also be used to check bushes and hear for its distinct sound if you do not want to use Corrosive Charges that has a longer cool down.

Terror Capacitor - Urgot charges up his capacitor to gain a shield. While the shield is active, Urgot gains slowing attacks.
Urgot charges up his terror capacitor to gain a shield that absorbs 80/140/200/260/320 (+0.8) damage for 7 seconds. While the shield is active, Urgot's attacks and missiles slow targets by 20/25/30/35/40%.
Cost
55/60/65/70/75 Mana
Range
600

Good support skill. Use it to chase down enemies, kite, or prevent some damage but don't rely on its shield too heavily!

Noxian Corrosive Charge - Urgot launches a corrosive charge that damages enemies in an area and reduces their armor.
Urgot launches a Corrosive Charge at a target location. Enemies afflicted by the charge have their armor reduced by 12/14/16/18/20% and take 75/130/185/240/295 (+) physical damage over 5/5/5/5/5 seconds.
Acid Hunter is able to missile-lock onto targets affected by Noxian Corrosive Charge.
Cost
50/55/60/65/70 Mana
Range
950

The armor reduction and damage are nice but this should primarily be used for its lock on feature. Landing these on good opponents takes practice so study your enemy's actions and predict their movements. Landing this skill is key to being a successful Urgot player.

Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse - Urgot charges up his Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverser, swapping positions with the target. His target is suppressed for the duration of the channel. He gains increased armor and magic resistance after the swap.
Urgot targets an enemy champion and channels his Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverser for 1 second, swapping locations with his target afterwards. His target is suppressed for the duration of the channel.

Urgot gains 80/105/130 armor and magic resist during and after the channel, and his target is slowed by 40% for 3 seconds after being swapped.
Cost
120/120/120 Mana
Range
600

An extremely tricky ultimate but can be very effective in certain situations and can make some funny kills. If the other team is retreating use Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse to catch one (and maybe pursue another due to some gained ground) because the rest of the team is less likely to attack you while retreating. Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse is also useful for preventing ganks (it even slows), especially when they are on both sides of you. You can also Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse over trees, cliffs, or walls into your team and out safely. DO NOT initiate a team fight with this ability, you will die and may wipe your team! Use it as additional CC in team fights to separate a one of their team members to reduce it to a 5v4 match-up thereby greatly increasing your team's chance of winning!

Tactics

One on one fights are ideal
After getting don't be afraid to last hit minions with Acid Hunter
When at your pool shoot off to boost your mana (after getting Tear of course)
Usually avoid playing aggressively until at least level 3 when you start to hurt
Aim for squishies first most of the time (high damage dealers may take priority)
Use Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse to single out enemies while maintaining your own safety
Activate while your is mid-flight to maximize its duration
Kite with and missiles to get away or help team mates escape
Practice your skill shots!
Aim your where your opponent is likely to walk into it
Use to scout bushes especially when enemies are missing
Maintain distance from enemy champions when you can
After landing do not run straight at the enemy but do maintain 's range as distance between you and the enemy
Ward to prevent getting ganked!

Lane Opponents

This is mostly covering likely laning opponents in the middle or solo lane.
Red-Hardest
Orange-Med/Hard
Yellow-Medium
Green-Med/Easy
Blue-Easy

Akali O
Try to out-range and kite Akali as much as possible
When she uses shoot your into a section of the shroud depending on if she is likely to attack(close part of shroud) or retreat (far side)

Anivia O
Strafing may help to dodge her (try to make your movement unpredictable too)
Be careful when pursuing her because of her
Try to time attacks after a wasted or when Anivia is OOM (without a ) to minimize damage taken

Annie O
Out-range as much as possible (this will be a common tip! surprise!)
Monitor her passive buff to avoid the stun
Annie players are usually more aggressive when they have their stun available so exploit it with your range
Avoid basic attacks when her shield is up

Ashe O
Try to stay behind your minion wave to avoid (or out-range)
If she doesn't hit minions for a while watch out for a critical strike
Use to avoid her and counter-attack if possible
Pressure her as much as possible!
A preferred lane opponent

Caitlyn O
Strafe to avoid (a lot of Cait players aim it down the minion wave)
Use the time after to attack or trigger traps (unless she can )
Watch stacks to avoid the hits and (if she waits for to hit with it) decrease her farm
Stay above 's damage to avoid deaths (and use to reduce the damage)

Corki O
Out-range in early game
Harass heavily between 3-5 and when hes OOM or at low stacks for his at 6+
While Harassing try to keep a distance thats out of his 's range
To avoid his block his shots with minions and be wary of the Big Ones
Do not forget about when pursuing or retreating!

Dr. Mundo O (although not a carry he takes solo lane sometimes)
Strafe and minion block to avoid hits
Don't let him get too close to you (punish his advance too)
Avoid pursuing him when he can use (every 50ish seconds)
Be careful when he is low on health
Consider bringing (Ranked)

Ezreal 0
Minion blocking will avoid most of his attacks (strafing works too but is less effective)
Watch his stacks
Only chase when you have Missile Lock to ensure he doesn't dodge with
Ezreal is an unreliable Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse target because of

Fiddlesticks O
Keep a good distance away from your minions if possible to avoid bounces
Avoid the range of
Be careful if he goes into a bush (he may onto you)
Consider bringing (Ranked)

Gangplank O
You will fall behind in level (most GPs get first)
can hit very hard on crits but you can force him to leave early from being OOM if you play aggressively (be cautious with this strategy)
Don't let him get in too close
Out-range as always
Do not Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse him unless you are sure he can not !
Don't depend too heavily on 's slowing effect because he can

Heimerdinger O
Keep 3 minions between you and Heimer ( )
Strafe to avoid CH-1 Concussion Grenade
Take out (with ) when you can (especially when he gets )

Irelia O
Be wary of her 's charge
Try to zone her out of creep killing when she is low on health ( )
will stun you if you have higher health than she does so be aware of both of your healths
She may also slow you with if you have lower health than she does so be careful when low!
Strafe to avoid Transcendant Blades (try to move away from minion waves to diminish her siphoning effect if she is shooting at you)

Jax O
Try to stay out of 's range
Pay attention to his weapon's glow to avoid hits (this also signals a )
Avoid basic attacking Jax (it may work against you because of )
Watch his stacks (and stacks too)

Karthus O
Move around a lot to avoid
Karthus players like to use while you are retreating or pursuing
Don't stand too close to him (even when he is about to die because of )
Be careful when you are at low health because you can not escape his ! (remember to when he uses it too)
A preferred lane opponent

Kassadin O
Ask to switch lanes with the other carry (lol)
You have to shoot your WHILE he is moving up to / or you will never hit him
Try to skill shot more since it has better range than
He will and you will hate him for it!
Not a reliable target for your Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse because of

Katarina O
Try to keep minions between you and Kat to avoid (still may hit you)
Only go for right after she uses a
Try to maximize potions by using them when you don't have the healing debuff
The most reliable time to kill Kat is when she has no minion wave behind her ( )
Don't stand in her (Also a good time to Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse her)!

Kennen O
Stand behind minion waves to avoid
Be aware of the amount of marks on you (3 marks=stun)
When you have 2 marks on you expect an attack and either retreat (if low) or counter it
Always use when harassing, otherwise he will just out of your range
Maintain a decent range so that he cannot charge you effectively

Kog'Maw O
Strafe a lot (more important against AP Kog)
Don't stand near him while you are killing him ( )
Watch out for + combos because they are almost unavoidable after you are slowed
Urgot can out last Kog in a lane so exploit that (OOM Kog)

LeBlanc O
A lot like Kassadin
Anticipate her attacks and counter attack quickly
can be mitigated by attacking the LeBlanc that has items
Don't Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse if she has her retreat up

Lux O
Watch her skill animations to avoid her abilities
If you are hit by an ability don't let her basic attack you (mostly an early game thing)
Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse on Lux is very effective in coordinated ganks
If you are snared (and Lux is 6) expect a Finales Funkeln and if she is close enough Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse her out of it then counter attack (she has no abilities for a while)
A preferred lane opponent

Malzahar O
Move too and away from Malzahar frequently to avoid
Don't stand in obviously
Stay away from minions that have
Mal likes to combo all of his abilities with his so watch out for spam
If you are good at avoiding he is a preferred lane opponent

Miss Fortune O
Stay behind two minions where one of those minions is behind the other ( )
Don't use your potions (unless you absolutely must) with debuff on you
Watch out for her increased speed from (avoid by hitting her)
is easier to avoid by moving left or right instead of backing out of it

Mordekaiser O
Back up when he moves into minions to (to avoid damage)
However try to punish his attempts to diminish his shield benefit
Don't stand in unless the creeping death target is in your tower and so is Mord ( hitting you = Tower hitting Mord)
Don't stay in the lane below 20% health (especially if he has )
Mord is a good pusher so feel free to attack minions continually if he pushes

Nasus O
Don't let him farm his !
Avoid close battles with Nasus because of and
Don't stand in obviously (even though it is weak)

Nidalee O
Alert your Jungler as to where her s are if your Jungler wants to gank Nidalee
Stand behind at least one minion to avoid or Strafe if you have no minions
Keep in mind that she can heal herself for a good amount
She can outrun you extremely well (especially after getting )
Don't stand too close to her when she has

Pantheon O
Don't stay in lane below 20% health
Be wary of his + combo
Out range him as much as possible
Alert teammates when he reaches level 6
A preferred lane opponent

Renekton O
Pay attention to his Rage and do not underestimate him when he is low!
Stay at a good range because he can easily + you
gives him health so expect him to use it when he is at low health

Ryze O
Stand away from your minions ( )
He will initiate with to try to spam you so hit him when he tries it
A preferred lane opponent

Singed O
Generally don't chase Singed ever ( )
Watch out for initiations (usually combined with )
Pushing the lane will just increase his farm
Harass him at a safe distance (make sure to kite too!)

Sion O
Be wary of MIAs because his will be a 1.5 second stun
When he uses his either stay away from him entirely or hit the shield down
Watch out for his pokes ( + )
These are all tips against AP Sion because AD Sion is really rare

Sivir O
Don't let her push your tower too hard
Strafe to avoid and remember to avoid the return trip
The only reason Sivir is a difficult lane opponent for Urgot is the (ruins your ) so try to hit it off with a skill shot first or just wait until it wares off
Be careful when pushing against Sivir because of the increased movement speed from

Teemo O
Out range him so that he can't do much against you
Alert junglers when he is level 6 (especially if they want to gank Teemo)
Oracles against Teemo is always a good idea (for and Camouflage)
Be aware of his increased movement speed ( )

Tristana O
Don't stand near low-health minions ( )
also reduces healing so avoid using potions during it
You can Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse her while she is using but be careful
Don't let her get behind you while you are pushing ( )
She will use to avoid dying
Her Attack Range increases as she levels

Tryndamere O(mostly in 3s)
Watch his stacks and expect him to heal with it
DO NOT fight him at close range unless you are absolutely sure you will win (consider critical strikes as well)
Be careful for + chases
Alert team when he has and be more careful at this point too
Good target for Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse (while he is Raging)
Consider bringing (Ranked)

Veigar O
Move around in weird patterns to avoid stuns + combo
Do not let him farm
Be careful when chasing him because of
A preferred lane opponent (since he is mostly an anti-AP champion)

Vladimir O
Be aware of his healing power
Harass as much as possible (you can't hit him during but your will stay on him so hit him when he comes back up)
Watch out for + combos (usually happens when you try to chase him when hes low)
Consider bringing (Ranked)

Xin Zhao O
Avoid + combo
Out range him and kite him effectively
His passive heals him so try to harass him while he is basic attacking minions when he has low hp
Very hard to kill if he builds Tank Xin so don't expect many kills in this lane

Always remember that your job in a carry lane is to farm (whether it be minions or enemy champions)! If getting a kill is dangerous do not do it!

I skipped certain champions that I never see lane in solo lanes or that jungle more often than lane. If you would like to add something to this section or if I made a mistake please tell me!
