This is my first build so if you have any ideas on how i can improve this build i would love to see.
Tanks are one of the most important parts of a team, but normally in team-fights they are normally used to take damage for the team and to get towers to agro them.
That is every tank other then Alistar. I truly think that he is the best tank in the game ever-since they remade him a few patches ago. He is a master at CC and keeping the enemy flighting and not having stable footing in teamfights.
Now i must say i'm not that great at the game but I really want to share this build with everyone just for the sake of learning other ideas and having other people tell me how to improve on this build I have.
Also I am **** at grammar so sorry in advance on that :(.
Pros / Cons
Has good ways to get in and out of fights
Can really **** up an opponents plan with a well timed Q or W skill
His R skill is insane
He has horrid cool downs
Has no mana
His W skill can hurt you own teams plan
You need to really work with your team or you skills can get wasted
Ok this is I think the part of the build that really is the weakest part and can use the most input on.
For marks I normally go with Greater Mark of Desolation
I think that this is one of the best things to have in marks because this gives you a LOT more power in fights, normally i find that the other team with get armor early to counter the AD champ of the team and it will hurt you ability to harass the people you are fighting in lane.
For Seals I go with
This one is a probably a no brainier for you guys armor for tanks just goes hand in hand.
For Glyphs I like to go Thanks to Jebus McAzn for telling me for mana regen runes. yeah everything he said is right with out this you will burnout to fast.
And lastly for Quints is go Greater Quint of Fortitude It is flat health for a tank what is not to love? :3
One of the worst things for Alistar is the cool-downs of his skills, they are just so long it really prevents him from having great CC early on, so I get this to help with early game harass.
I put my 9 extra points into the utility tree to help with his mana regen other then that i think that everything els is very strait forward.
OK now the item build I went with is really made to help with Alistar's 2 main weak points; Mana and Cool-downs.
This is a great first item to get; the armor and health Makes it so that you can stay in the fight for a long time and the health regen makes it so that you can get back into the fight fast with out having to recall.
This is the only boots I can really see using for Alistar cause it really helps with his Big problem of Cool-downs.
This item is really the only item you need to get to help with your other weak-point Mana. Plus you get a nice cool-down help and 45 armor.
This help your tanking by giving you a nice 250 hp and 30 magic resist, and more cool-down, and the boost to healing regen is nice too.
This is an item i never really see used a lot which is a shame because it is soooooooo great. The attack boost you get is great for fighting in mid cause Ali can get a little weak in mid game and the magic resist is always great for fighting with a lot of casters, and I have lost count of the times that shield have helped me get out of a fight or let me tank damage so i can get a kill on the last man standing.
It is an upgraded Glacial Shroud; more armor,mana,and cool-down.
Shurelya's Reverie Ok this is were a different time can really go this item is ok it gives some cool-down and regens and then 330 health is nice but this and Doran's (late game) can really be switched with some other items depending on the fight.
This is a good item to change out for in lategame if you don't have the lasting power you need in a fight.
Ralai's Crystal Scepter This is great for you Q skill cause it gives them a slow which gives you a easy target to beat up on plus the HP boost is never hated.
For if you are fighting some really heavy casters.
This skill is really a hit or miss skill you can make a winning move or make it so you whole team hates you. The reason for this because it sends the other team FLYING away from you.
I get this first skill of the game and just use it to keep the enemy's away from the minion line it can sometimes make a xp gape that you can use to your advantage.
For mid and late game i tend to be more safe in how I use this skill I try to get to their sides and hit them into a wall so the team and gank on them, or you can get them from behind and ram them into your own team.
This is also used for killing a running enemy (so long as they have low heath) and you can....KS your team >.>
Also you can go through some walls and knock THEM through walls so be careful were you use it.
This is a skill i use mostly for team fights and ganks or farming.
A great combo to use is the Head-butt into a wall and then this it will get your team some time to get to them and you and hurt them a bit too.
Also just using it when you are near a lot of the enemy champs can really help you team by ****ing up their timing for skills and it can save team mates that are getting focused on.
This is good early but lategame is really not that big of a help the heal is just to weak late game for it to really see you later on.
OMG OMG OMG OMG sooooooooooo good it is really is just god mode you take so little from everyone that you can really make a fight one-sided, also with all the cd in this build the cooldown is only 48 seconds :3 plus 90 ad make you hit like a truck.
This is a great skill to get from place to place, and a tank that can get places is a great tank.
Thanks to Jebus McAzn for showing me how stupid it was to not have this as a must skill for Ali :3 as he said you need to to position your self well in a fight.
