Varus in the Pre-Season (making an old Champ feel new)
Its been interesting with the arrival of this pre-season and all of the changes that are coming to league.
We have hyper mobile assassin that have only become more so due to the assassin update.
Tanky junglers with literal butt loads of cc are roaming everywhere (a la sej or jarv 4).
And the usual distribution of top lane fighters/tanks (along with some out of meta picks, such as vayne and some mages) bot lane adc's and supports are present too.
In all of this, varus has done nothing but fallen.
His win rates are down, literally descending more so by the patch.
How to remedy this?
My solution: Stop playing him like a regular adc.
Varus's e is pretty unique. Its a passive ability that stacks with ap, and actually if built solely AP can be deadly. It is a %health damage. There are other adc's with passives that result in a lot of damage, ie vayne, hell even the rats poison (twitch) could count as one. But none of them has an ability that so heavily and so well stacks with ap into the late game.
Thus in order to make varus more viable, in a meta where there are other adc's that can do his job better, his play style needs to be changed, his damage needs to be upped.
The solution is to play an attack speed varus, who is not only doing quite a lot of damage with auto attacks and ad scaling of his abilities (mainly the q), but also utilizing his kit to the fullest and thus with the masteries and rageblade, and depending on your item choice, building ap which he can use in unison with his ad, to outdamage others of the same role, thus win games, and thus make a bit of a come back as a champ.
Sorry for the basicness of the guide, it is my first one ever, but I really do love this champ and wanted the community to be aware of a different way of playing him :)
