Introduction

Varus
Hi Guys,
This is my first attempt at making a Guide, hope you enjoy it.

In this guide I present my Ap version of Varus The arrow of Retribution. This is what I think is one of the best ad carries made with a hidden offspec on the side of Tristana AP.

Please leave your feedback as I'll try to improve this overtime.

Thanks ^^

    *Relies on
Chain of Corruption and Hail of Arrows to escape

AP Varus?!

Yes, I'm being serious, this can work. In most matchups (at least in this meta) you will encounter very tanky Champions resulting in their difficulty to kill. This allows them to carry simply by survivability and win against non-cordinated and non-Hp shreeding champions. It is why I devised making the first "workable" ap archer, Varus. He specializes in shreeding high health targets as well as reduce their regenaration by 50% and slow/snare them.

The Focus

In this build you focus on Blighted Quiver blight stacks and your Chain of Corruption. The main reason for this is because the blight stacks deals Percental damage meaning it scales by amount of health the enemy has. Your goal is to reach three stacks on the target then fireing your Hail of Arrows on them. This causes Huge chunks against enemys that aren't armored to the teeth.
This in addition to Hail of Arrows 50% reduced regen can almost shut down all of the enemy's ways of staying alive. This is effective against champions that rely on regen to survive. Example: Volibear, Swain, Morgana, Fiddlesticks

Runes

Standered Mage runes:
Magic Pen Reds For more magic damage to get through the enemy's magic resist. Benificial for your Blighted Quiver
Mana reg per Level Yellows For needed reganeration to finish combos
Ap per level Blues For the progressively high ap after level 5 and extra magic damage on Blighted Quiver

Masteries

Im not going to pick all of the mastery perks since that would be silly, just ones that are "On the fence"

Demolitionist Because you focus most of your basic attack damage into Blighted Quiver this perk allows you a bonus when attacking turrets, useful for any basic attack casters such as Teemo.

Arcane Knowledge Perfect extra penatration for your ap ablities

Summoner's Insight 15 seconds off your Flash can make all the difference in the world. <TRUST ME>

Good Hands I chose this over Expanded Mind because your spells really don't cost that much mana when your backed up by mana reg runes. Plus its always benificial to knock off 6 seconds of a 60 seconds dead time and get back to do your job.

Swiftness Although one of the faster Ad carries its always great to run even faster, helpful for anytime things go wrong. Even when they don't you would want to catch up to your enemy since your not going for [[phantom dancer]

Items

*I always start off with a Doran's Ring for the bonus Health, ap, and mana reg.

*The follow up item to this is Boots and upgraded into Berserker's Greaves for extra attack speed and movement speed.

*Next build into a Malady for extra attackspeed, ap, and MR debuff. This is your core item to Ap Varus as each time you basic attack your target they recieve not only your Blighted Quiver but also Malady bonus 20 magic damage and increaseing MR debuff.

*The Next Big item is the almighty Rabadon's Deathcap This will skyrocket your ap and your damage on Blighted Quiver and Chain of Corruption

*After that Huge step you make another with Sheen upgraded into Lich Bane to add a bonus of your ap to your basic attack after the combo.

*Finally you come to a fork in the road. At this point your pretty powerful but still very squishy and vuneriable to being focused. My top two choises at this point is either a Guarden Angle or Quicksilver Sash based on what type of focusment your getting.

Skill Sequence

At level one get Blighted Quiver, if you have 40 ability power you will have a bonus of 20 extra magic damage to your basic attacks, At LEVEL 1! Max this First.

Next get Hail of Arrows as a finisher for your blight stacks since its easier and its utility is more useful than Piercing Arrow. Max this second.

Don't Even bother with Piercing Arrow till level 14 since your focusing on shuting people down with Hail of Arrows slow and regen debuff. However don't leave your Q as useless, it also can trigger blight stacks and is best used for round two, if the enemy is still alive.

As with any champion, you max your Chain of Corruption ASAP at level 6,11,and 16

Summary

Overall Ap Varus focuses on destroying High health/regen champions as well as recking those without any MR.

Well I hope you enjoyed my little presentation of Ap Varus. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment or send me a message.
