Introduction

Hello, this is my first build here on Mobafire, but please stick with me. Now what to say about Vayne? She is a ranged damage dealing character that has very good burst and a knock back-stun as bonus. Her damage comes mostly from her ranged attacks and her abilities all add extra damage or an effect to her normal shots. And for good measure she has a few escape tricks up her sleeve.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

    Excellent sustained damage
Fast cool down on ult and other abilities
Deals a % based TRUE damage every third consecutive hit
Great chaser due to ult and her passive
    Good range on physical attack
Has a knock back /stun, basically a ranged version of poppy's ability
Has a some amount of escape capability

Cons:

Very low starting health and armor
    Relies solely on physical attacks

Runes

I use a basic physical damage rune set.

9X Greater Marks of Desolation
9X Greater Seals of Alacrity
9X Greater Glyph of Warding
3X Greater Quintessence of Desolation

The ArP runes give you a good chunk of ArP and make getting kills much easier at the beginning.
Attack speed is always nice as it allows for more damage and for more Silver Bolt procs.
The magic resist is very nice to have, as most of the time you will be playing against some AP characters.

Masteries

There is not much to be said,i use the basic 21/0/9 getting the extra attack speed, and crit. Basically this is just maximizing your damage output. The one point in ability power is because i don't take exhaust or smite into games.

Summoner Spells

Basically there are only a few summoner spells that are half decent for Vayne. Here is a list of them and a quick reasoning.

Good:

Flash

- allows you to get that last hit in on your target, or even escape with. Best part of it is using your ultimate, tumble, and flash over a wall while stealthed.

Ignite

- free damage that also reduces your targets healing by 50%. Its just an amazing spell all in all

Exhaust

- An amazing slow that allows you to get several more silver tip procs off on the target, not to mention its escaping ability.

Ghost

- A rather nice speed increase, but i find that it is only useful for Vayne when trying to escape. Her ult is basically a Ghost when moving to an enemy champion.

Skills and Skill Sequence

Here is a quick over view of Vaynes passive and abilities:

Night Hunter (Passive):

Vayne gains 40 movement while she moves towards and enemy champion.

Tumble:

Vayne tumbles a few spaces in the direction of your curser and gains bonus physical damage (55%/60%/65%/70%/75% of current AD) for her next attack.

Silver Bolts: (passive)

Every third consecutive hit or ability used on a target is dealt 30/40/50/60/70 true damage plus 4%/5%/6%/7%/8% of the targets max health as true damage.

Condemn:

Vayne Targets an enemy and shoots a giant bolt. It deals 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+0.5 per bonus attack damage) of initial damage and knocks the target backwards. If it collides with a wall/tower it deals and additional 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+0.5 per bonus attack damage) and stuns the target for 1.5 seconds.

Final Hour (ultimate):

Vayne readies herself and gains an additional 35/55/75 AD and in addition to that when she tumbles she becomes stealthed for 1.5 seconds and her Night Hunter effect is quadrupled. The effect lasts 8/10/12 seconds.

I like to start the game off with silver bolts. I find that it is able to deal more damage in the beginning of a game than tumble at level 1. However tumble or silver bolts can be gotten to start. After words i max out tumble as quickly as possible, putting a point into condemn at level 4 and points into her ultimate at level 6. Afterwords i get a mix of condemn and Silver Bolt to max.

Items

Ok ill admit that my build may seem odd at first, but it does amazingly well. It Gives you great survivability early on and a nice amount of AD for your tumble to give you a hefty chunk of extra damage.

Start off the game with a doran's blade. Once you have enough go back and grab another doran's blade and boots. Continue to farm until you can grab your berserk's grieves. This will give you a total of 200 health, 20 AD, 6% life steal, and 25% AS.

Once you have gathered these items buy the following in an order that you see fit:
1. B.F. Sword > Bloodthirster
2. Sheen > Trinity Force
3. Phage > Frozen Mallet
4. Defensive item ex. cloak and dagger, banshee's vail ect.
5. B.F. Sword > Bloodthirster

Team Work

Team work is key to win any match in LoL. Knowing how to play Vayne correctly, and knowing when it is the best time to use an ability can change the outcome of a battle quite easily. When in a team fight, be sure to activate your ultimate as the amount of AD you get from it is amazing. Tumble and shoot as much as you can while tumbling off to the side of your target. Doing this will allow you to condemn the enemy teams carry and allow your team an easy kill. Also be sure no not knock a target away from your team, as doing so well certainly get you few unfriendly remarks from your team mates. REMEMBER its better for the team to get a kill, rather than you try to get a kill and end up making the enemy survive.

Some Champion combos that I have found that work extremely well with Vayne:

Swain

- his root allows you a sitting target that you can get 4-5 shots off on and most likely set you up for a condemn right after the root wears off.

Alistar

- His knock up and stuns are great for getting extra hits in. Not to mention his AoE healing.

Veigar

- His Event Horizon is an amazing ability. Yet again this allows Vayne to get several hit in and a few Silver Bolt procs.
