Here's a quick guide to get you started on Veigar.

Here is a list of what Veigar is.

-Serious Nuker
-Incredible Growth Rate Champ
-Great Support

Here is a list of what Veigar is not.

-Damage Sponge
-Team Carry
-Easy to Play

Anyone who isn't willing to die a few times to learn how to play Veigar should
learn how to play Ryze. If you want the ultimate AP power however, Veigar is your man.

The key to playing Veigar is learning A) When and where to use his abilities and B)Learn how to AP Snowball like a mofo.

Explanation of AP Snowball

Veigar is very unique in that his power will grow permanently as he kills things
with baleful strike. Use this to your advantage as much as possible. My advice would be to learn how to last hit with it, and kill minions at every opportunity given, even at the higher levels. You items will allow you to scale with this power even more. Veigar is very squishy, and is a favorite target of carries everywhere. This build helps your AP scale quickly so you can fool your opponents into coming within range of your spells. By killing them with your ult, you will regain mana, and a permanent ap bonus of 5 per kill. If you have Soulstealer with you, that amount will increase. Your opponents will find this annoying and attempt to gank you later. Let them feed your AP until none can stand against you and go on the offensive.

The Importance of Stuns
Event Horizon is one of the most useful skills in your arsenal.
It allows you the opportunity to unload your spells in a few seconds and
can save you or help you catch that fleeing enemy. Remember that if you can summon the corner of the circle onto an enemy it's an instant stun.Toss a Dark Matter to hurt them, and unleash Baleful Strike and Primordial Burst, in that order. Remember never to let a melee dps within striking distance, that spells death for you.

Get the hang of Veigar and once you feel confident enough, ask to mid a game. Play cautiously in the beginning, last hit those creeps with BS and let your AP stack. If you opponent attacks you, respond with a BS, but play it safe. When you reach level 4 or so,start throwing BS's until your opponent is at 1/3 of his health. Take stock of how much damage your BS and DM could do to him. If you feel like you can take him, stun him with EH, throw a dark matter and BS then ignite. If he still has a shred of life left, you can use Flash to get in range for a second BS for the kill. Get your soulstealer early after you finish Chalice, then finish your boots.

As you play through Midgame, remember to watch for easy prey. If you lane partners need help don't feel shy, give them a hand. After you get Soulstealer, even assists are beneficial to your AP growth. After Level 14 if you have a spare 300 gold go ahead and buy an Elixir of Brilliance. It allows you a big chunk of AP and persists through death, although you should allow yourself to die too often. You've got stacks to worry about. If your team has downed a few towers, mob up. Remember to last hit champs with your ult, and make solid use of Flash and Ignite to get the job done. Nothing says "Fear Me" like a fully charged Soulstealer.

Late game should be a breeze for you if you played early and midgame correctly.
Your Rod of Ages should have been completed by now, and you should be making your Ring. Aim for squishies, and leave the tanks for your carries to kill. If you can help them at all, do so, but AFTER you've killed the squishies. It's much easier to fight while opposed by fewer champs.

Items for Veigar

Obviously there is some variation to building Veigar.

One could build a Tear of the Goddess for early harrass, then go for Rod of Ages. I highly recommend getting Rod of Ages no matter how you build veigar.
Remember that Veigar's strength lies in his AP. Don't get Rylai's Scepter, as your Event Horizon gives you the means to kill fleeing opponents anyway.

What Your Veigar should always carry
-Rod of Ages
-Sorcer's Boots
-Zhonya's Ring
-Elixir of Brilliance

What He Should NEVER HAVE.
-Ninja's Tabi
-Guinsoow's Rageblade
-Fiendish Codex
-Any kind of Armor >:(

-If you can spare the mana mid/lategame, throw a DM into a neutral minion camp for some gold. You can even kill those with BS for some bonus AP
-Dark Matter reveals stealthed characters in the brush, use this to your advantage.
-Your passive allows you to steal AP from your opponents when the are nearby, even if you can't see them. Keep an eye on your AP when Mias are called, it can save your ***.
