Veigar is a champion that can instantly kill your enemy's mage and carry if you land your combo correctly. You also have to use all your spells really quickly, but its not as bad as playing a champion that has a lot of microing. Overall a very good champion to play if you want to see your enemy disappear in 2-3 seconds.
You can also use Ghost/Flash
But you need flash! You can use it to save yourself and you can also surprise your enemies by using flash stun, combo! I like teleport, so I can go back to my lane once I have bought my items, and teleport can also be useful to gank if you tele a ward in the bushes and surprise then from behind.
It helps keep you in lane longer, but with the item and your passive, which gives you a lot of mana reg this isn't really necessary.
You could secure your kill with an ignite if you feel that your combo isn't enough to kill your enemy, but usually they end up dead or you could finish them off with baleful strike.
Veigar's combo and Deathfire Grasp can be a deadly combo, but I prefer the Will of Ancient because you won't have to recall even when you have low hp because you can always heal yourself from using Dark matter to minions or monsters. It can also save you since you will be gaining about hmmm...300-500 hp from your combo with the spellvamp. You could also replace it for a Void Staff if you see your enemy stacking MR, but if you are smart, you would kill the enemy's carry and mage and not the tanks.
If you want survivability I would go Rylai's crystal scepter since it give AP and HP.
You could change your Glyph runes to cooldown, but 28 AP at lvl 18 from runes isn't so bad.
E>W>R>Q or E>W>Q>R>Q
It's a good idea to finish a champion with Baleful Strike since you will be gaining AP, but sometimes I like to see enemy champion blow up by my ult.
ALWAYS last hit, remember, veigar is a champion that is very dependant on his ability to last hit, so he gains A LOT of AP late game.
do not harras your enemy champ until you hit lvl 5. This is the biggest mistake I would see when I see other people playing veigar. You are actually wasting your mana since your baleful strike isnt really that powerful. You will have to Q and last hit the minions as much as possible. Once you hit lvl 6 you can kill one enemy champ with the combo.
By now you should have your archangels and enough AP to burst down any carry/mage. Remember that your ultimate is also increased from your enemy's AP, so enemy with high AP are easier to instantly kill. Teamfights and ganks WILL start anytime so be prepared for your stun and harass/scare them with Dark Matter/ Baleful Strike. Get golem buff as much as possible for the mana reg/cd reduction.
Game would be intense and you should always be following your teammates to help them. Veigar has one of the best stuns because of its AOE, meaning that you can stun the whole team. Beware, people might counter your stun with Banshee's Veil, so pay close attention to when to use it or you might end up in a bad situation. You should have about 800-1.2k AP and if you farm like hell, you could end up having way more. This means trying to last hitting minions with your Q from the very start till the very end. Get Blue Elixirs as frequently as possible.
Situational items- Mejai's Soulstealer
If you are very confident with your skills with veigar, get it, but otherwise don't because if end up not as good as you think, this item would waste your time and money, but if you can get stacks quickly, this item is very deadly. This is like a double edge sword, can be good and can be bad.
Thanks for Reading and I hope you enjoy playing Veigar. And no, it's not as easy as you think, it takes time to fully master this champion. I forgot to mention that he is SQUISHY as hell remember if you ever get picked off you will end up dead! Be careful of how you position yourself, behind your tanks!
