I have been playing veigar for a while now and have finally perfected his play style. Its a pretty simple technique you just need to work with it to get it down.

With this rune selection not only will you not have to worry about manna mid game, but you will also be a scary ap hitter.

Even though most of the build is offensive, that does not mean viegar should be played too aggressively. These masteries are to insure that when you make a hit, that hit is hard.

You want to start with the boots because veigar is a slow champion and therefor prone to being chased down and slaughtered. Anything that might help him get away helps. You then want to go with the tear of the goddess because it drastically helps with manna. It the beginning you will be a bit manna starved but by mid game you should never have to recall for manna purposes. You can then upgrade your boots to sorcerers shoes and then the fun can begin. You should be about lvl 10 at this point and can now begin stacking your ap. This is the turning point for veigar and you will begin to do some major damage. The deathcap is an obvious choice when specking ap and then follow it up with the void staff for a little more plus magic penetration. You can then go with the banshie veil in order to get a little more survivability. If the match has lasted this long you can then upgrade the tear as well as giving yourself the hourglass for defensive purposes.

This is to make sure you can be aggressive and defensive at the same time. You want to save that ignite for when you can get a kill with it but also have the flash up in case of a bad turn of events.

Veigar is a glass cannon. He is what I like to call a hit and run champion. When a team fight begins , Veigar creeps out of the shadows and unleashes everything he has. Once he has done that he is gone as quickly as he appeared so that the enemy doesnt have the time to pursue. By end game, if an enemy is at half health or less, veigar can normally finish them off with ease. The order you should want to use your abilities is obvious. Start with the stun and once they can not move quickly use the meteor and strike on him. Follow that up with the ult if it is available if the enemy is not dead by then you may be able to get in one more stike before hightailing it out of there, When not engaged in battle make sure to always have your stun ready. Veigar is incredibly squishy and therefor prone to ganks. Try not to go alone. That and your stun can be the difference between life and death. Veigars meteor is great for farming mid game. Also make sure to use your strike to get the finishing blows on minions as much as you can. As long as you keep these things in mind Veigar is a really fun champion to play.
