Introduction

This is an introductory guide to Veigar, A very powerful burst mage that late game can dominate in team fights and pick off lone members of a team. I don't plan on lecturing you on how to play as every person has their own play style but i feel that i should give some advice for those who want it

Runes

As you can see my rune style is set up purely as AP and magic penetration as there is a large benefit from having large amounts of AP with Veigar's ultimate and Dark Matter (W) increasing significantly in damage.

If you feel that this rune set up isn't working for you then i have also used Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration to give increased mana regen on top of the passive which can come in handy should you be out of combat long enough to regain enough mana.

Masteries

I have used a basic AP champ mastery setup as to be expected, the rest i have put into utility giving added mana and mana regen as Veigar can be particularly mana hungry early game or after a full rotation

The point in Swiftness is more of a filler than a necessity, should you feel you would get more benefit from Improved Recall or Good Hands then it is possible to move the point into either of those

Items

The item set is quite specific as every item has AP in one way or another, this is because all of veigar's abilities increase dramatically with AP.

Lich Bane is shown as the last item but is not the most essential, if you feel there is another item that provides a better boost such as Zhonya's Hourglass for the armour and AP or a second Archangel's Staff for added mana. It is all situational, if you are finding that a team is AP heavy then the newly added item Athene's Unholy Grail gives AP, cd reduction and magic resist.

I have found that a Deathfire Grasp can be incredibly useful if you have multiple targets to burst down while they are in your Event Horizon (E), It gives you the opportunity to use your ultimate and the item on two seperate champions.

Skill Sequence

The skill sequence focuses on Baelful Strike (Q) which is your main damaging ability, it also gives you AP as you kill minions with it (Remember you must do this for your last hits!) when it has been fully leveled it will grant 5 AP per champion kill which is the point being fed becomes a very bad thing for the enemy team

Dark Matter (W) is your next ability as it will increase your minion farm should you need to get rid of a pack of them honing down on your turret, it will also do a lot of damage to champions trapped in your Event Horizon (E)

Primordial Burst should be leveled like any other ultimate at 6,11 and 16. it should also be the final skill used in your rotation (almost as a finisher)

A typical rotation for me is E>W>Q>R this allows time for them to be trapped long enough for your Q and R to hit them and then as they try to run your W will crash to the floor and pick them off should they still be alive

Unique Skills

Primordial Burst and Dark Matter are your friends throughout champion kills and as they use over 100% AP as a booster, the build i have shown you will focus on this and will therefore boost there damage very substantially allowing quicker easier kills leaving less time for you to take damage

Team Work

Veigar believe it or not can be a good initiator as his Event Horizon is used as a good stun to allow your team to rush in and pick champions off, it can also be used to trap a champion ready for a gank from your jungler. Another use is to save your friends life, should they be running away from the entire enemy team then just throw down Event Horizon and run for your life!

Farming

Farming is incredibly simple for Veigar, Dark Matter will do all the work for you so long as it is placed correctly as your points in the skill increase and AP increase so will the speed you clear minions. At 500+ AP one Dark Matter will easily be enough take out a collection of minions giving you plenty of xp and gold

Summoner Spells

Ignite - can be used to take out stragglers that have fortunately survived your burst damage, it sounds very basic but it is crucial for picking up that kill and the 5 bonus AP

Flash - as ever is used as your escape, being rather squishy Veigar can use Event Horizon and flash to put distance between him and the pursuing enemies

Other options: Teleport, Ghost, Heal & Exhaust
Spells i don't recommend: Everything else basically

As you can see i have included Clarity in the "don't recommend" section this is because if Veigar stays out of combat for long enough his passive will return enough mana that you will just be wasting a spell slot
