Actually, the guide is pretty right about saying is a core item because even though is not mana hungry, he is not in early levels, but when you need to poke a lot, just the MP/5 is not enough. Remember that in lane you are facing a mage, so the MR that the chalice gives you is way better than the Morello's (remember that an AP mid rarelly have any HP sustain, so cap the healing is not a vital thing). Morello is great for the support role, and its just that, and its only if you don't have .

So I agree with the guide in those terms.

Nice guide!

A good just murders you. It's only possible to kill with when his skills are on cooldown. Try baiting his skills, mostly . His is a guaranteed kill on you. Play defensive and farm with your skills. Don't try killing him. Rush defensive items. NEVER GET CLOSE TO HIM. Ask your jungler to camp your lane. If you're lucky, you'll survive past laning phase.

That's why it's included in the Other Options. This isn't a single build, this guide tells you what items are good for . You can get it instead of or whatever you want. It's not like I'm saying "HURR DURR GET AHTENE'S OR UNINSTALL". This guide just gives options. Enemy team doesn't have AP or you don't need to spam skills? Or the enemy team has ? Get , simple as that.
Also, that 15 AP difference means 9 more damage on . Yup.

Yup, 's price is less than , it gives more ability power too. 's Unique Passive is also better than , so Morello should be a better choice.

The only reason you get is for the 20% CDR. CDR is too good on . Considering your only other CDR option is ...
And the purple gets tiring at times...

Okay, I've fixed and .
is better because it applies two marks of 's passive. Also, it's AoE; since can't roam, he needs to push the lane, which is great for.
About , it's just that I like letting the jungler get blue, and because you're not guaranteed to have it every time; this can cost you games when you're in lategame. Also, should never be in the range of , since he'll melt in a second if he does.
Seals should remain armor seals at all cases since most junglers are AD, and minions deal physical damage as well. doesn't need any mana regen after he gets anyway.
Just make sure you credit me, and you can use it!
Actually, since has no cast time, you can use it virtually the same time as . Since travels slower, this is why it's used first; Using right after EW will make you use it just in time hits.
