Hey Guys, This is my first time making a guide here on Mobafire, and it's for one of my new favorite champions, Vi. She's a very strong champion, and can be really fun if you're playing her right. This is my personal build of Vi, you can mix and change up as you like, but this is my favorite build for her.

Masteries

This is my Normal Vi Mastery choice. I choose this because it's really all the offensive AD masteries. I switch up Lethality/Havoc for Sorcery and Summoner's Wrath because the cooldown reduction and added benefits to both summoner spells (if you chose Ghost over Flash)

Summoner Spells


Ghost: Ghost is a great choice for Vi because it can help you catch up and put Ignite on the champion, and it can help you get away faster.

Ignite: Helps you secure the kill, or reduce the healing effects on Enemy Champions and ultimates (like Dr. Mundo's ultimate)

Flash: I take Ghost over Flash, but Flash is a viable option for your summoner spell, if you prefer it over Ghost.

Ability Explanation/Sequence

Ability Explanation


  • Blast Shield: Pretty much gives you a shield for your max health every 8 seconds when you deal damage with an ability. This helps a ton if you're the one that is initiating fights
  • Vault Breaker (Q): This is your main gap closer as Vi, as well as your main, and only escape tool outside of your summoner spells. It's a good damaging spell, as it applies Denting Blows to the target, helping you get the 3 stacks faster. This provides a short knock up.
  • Denting Blows (W): This ability is a passive that applies when three stacks are reached on an enemy. This provides a good amount of damage at max level, although the ability is maxed last because your other abilities are much better at dishing out damage. This is mainly used as your armor reducer, and a source of some attack speed.
  • Excessive Force (E): This ability is an awesome farming tool. You will clear waves quickly when you reach rank 5, this is also a good ability to use to harass the enemy top, as well as potentially finish off the kill if you're not quite in range, but you have minions that you can auto-attack to finish them off.
  • Assault and Battery (R): This will be your main initiator if it is up. I recommend using it on the enemy ADC to focus them down as fast as possible. This is also a great gap closer if your Q is down, and the champion is almost dead. It dishes out a good amount of damage, and provides a short CC.

You get Relentless Force first, because of the great utilization for clearing minions, and great harassment it provides. Next is Vault Breaker because it's your gap closer, and provides a great amount of damage and mobility. Last we get Denting Blows because it provides great utility, but the damage it outputs increases minimally compared to your other abilities.

  • : Provides Tenacity to help reduce CC, also provides some magic resist. This is interchangeable with Ninja Tabi if their carry is fed.
  • : Trinity Force provides great damage out put with its Sheen type proc, as well as a passive slow
  • : Provides even more armor reduction, in combination with your Denting Blows, and provides some health and cooldown reduction.
  • : Provides you with life steal and a great amount of AD with full stacks.
  • : Provides you with more health, and is nice to help add to your Tankiness late game.
  • : In combination with your Warmog's Armor, you get a nice AD boost when you're low on health, and provides a "Safety Net" if you're getting burst down with a lot of magic damage.

Farming/Teamfights

Farming

Use your E to harass people, and clear minion waves as fast as possible. Don't use it too much, as you want to have your Mana for an escape if the enemy jungler comes for a gank, or if you need to finish off the enemy.






Teamfights

Vi is a great initiator, so you should use your Q or R (if it's up) to initiate your team fights if you're the designated tank. No matter what, you should try and use your R on the enemy carry so you can shut down their main damage output early, and sway the fight in your favor. If their carry is mia, use it on the AP champion. You should also use your E to deal as much AoE damage as you possibly can.
