I usually prefer all out ap in order to do the most damage in the least amount of time, but then you have lower health and die quicker. Therefor this would be a more practical option.

very well thought out guide gives alot of insight on playing vlad a little differently. I have one question about the build though. Why do you chose warmogs over spirit visage would the cdr from spirit visage make vlad even stronger?

@Sgtbilco
The 1.5k health from the Warmogs gives me 38 Ability Power, and it also gives me about ~150 more damage on my Sanguine Pool, not to mention the extremely large health boost. The bonus gives you an amazing presence in team fights and allows you to refuse receiving a death. I've thought about Spirit Visage before, but I never really tested it out post-nerf. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try it out and see if it's more viable.

Well Sgtbilco, I've tried out the Spirit Visage, and I have a lot to say about it.
The 15% healing effects and regeneration, I didn't notice much at all about it. It added maybe around 10~40 healing bonus overall... Not really a big fan of that. The health increase was minimal, but the Magic Resistance was great. Additionally, the low-cost of the item helped, and allowed me to start racking up gold to reach my Rylai's a bit faster. The 10% Cooldown was helpful, bringing the total Q down to around 2.7, which is better than nothing. I'm still a bit skeptical about incorporating it, due to the fact that I lose nearly 1,200 health and ~20 HP/5, along with a lot of power on my Sanguine Pool. It's a good item, but it used to be much better, and it was nerfed into the ground; so there are much more viable options. For now, I'm going to have to say it's a possibility to have it added into the build, but not currently. I will be playing more games with the Spirit Visage and tweaking the build further, Thank you for the suggestion.

Here's my stats from one of the games where I tried a Spirit Visage.

Awesome guide, and I like how Vladimir can escape from all those attacks. I know it really messes me up when i lane against him. Also, just wanted to know how much the Rabadon's change impacted casters.

@PentaKayle
The change isn't that severe. All is does is deduct around 10~30 AP off of the total Deathcap bonus. You get a total of 182AP if you only have the bonus off of the Deathcap. The overall deduction isn't that severe, only tacking down about 5~8% of your total AP as a loss. It's not that much of an impact, but it gives Melee characters a chance to be more viable.

@Bloofyre
Thanks! :D

Very good build, I went 14-2-13. It worked out just great. One thing is that I would recommend getting Will of the Ancients after Rabadon's. You're in mid lane so what's the point of having the aura if you're alone. Other than that, +1 all the way.
