A few explanations
First of all, if i take Barrier it is because it is freaking OP with the passive of Volibear. If you use it the right way, i mean at the right time (when low hp and passive has already gone), you nearly can't die early game when you're getting ganked (except if the opponent's jungler or mid is fed (like 2 or 3 kills EARLY game).
Anyway, second of all, i rush Rolling Thunder
and Majestic Roar as first abitities so that I can play safe under turret then I rush Frenzy , cause that's what make Volibear OP early game. If you're a bit farmed, you get fed on your opponent's back, and you rush Health, Armor or Magic Resist - depends on your opponent - you're like unkillable, cause you're tanky, and you deal high damage with Frenzy To finish, a few explanations about the Items. For boots, you can add or not any enchantments you want, that won't make a real difference about how OP your Volibear is. By the way, these are example of a full stuffed Volibear, but u can make a mix of it, you can make your own, you can play without boots and buy instead Atma's Impaler
