Introduction

Hi! I’m frommaplestreet a Diamond 1 ADC that has peaked at 2600 elo and has achieved a peak ladder rank of 4th. Draven has been my main champion since mid-season 2 and I consistently hold an extremely high win ratio of around 66% on the champion even in Diamond level play.

This guide primarily is for bottom lane, where Draven can be very effective in many matchups. Draven can be used sparingly mid and in a few matchups top. The matchups top and mid will not be covered but generally any champion that will gap-close and burst is unfavourable for Draven ( Xin Zhao, Diana, Irelia are examples of unfavorable top-lane matchups; whereas Anivia and Karthus mid are relatively easy).

Draven is a very strong champion in that he can out-dps any other ADC and with enough experience the challenge of catching axes in teammfights is almost completely irrelevant. Draven's ability to be picked into any matchup makes him a very fun and good champion. While Draven is strong at all points of the game, if he gets an early kill he’s nearly unstoppable for the rest of the match.

Runes

Marks

These marks are pretty much the only logical choice with this Lifesteal quint setup. You need the extra AD from these to help you last hit minions and give you increased damage on your harass. Alternatively you can use Greater Mark of Armor Penetration but if you choose to use them you'll have to use AD in your quints or you'll have difficulty last hitting.
Seals

Armour runes are self explanatory, the metagame will have you almost always laning against another AD carry (or possibly AD bruisers) which makes armour runes REQUIRED. Never play without these as soon as you can get them.
Glyphs

MR runes are simply the best remaining choice. There's really nothing else good for an AD carry in glyphs and you're extremely squishy to AP carries so a little extra resistance there won't hurt. I recommend flat MR if you're against a bot lane with strong magical damage - champions such as Sona, Lulu, Corki, Taric or Tristana are good examples of this. If not, you can take MR per level instead. If you're not sure, stick to flat MR.
Quintessences

These quints are absolutely amazing and have been underestimated for too long. With these combined with Doran's Blade your sustain is very high and in many situations you can actually skip buying lifesteal until much later in the game. Being able to sustain from the start of the game at zero gold cost is awesome and I can't recommend these quints enough. Alternative is Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage, which will give you a little more damage on your early harass.

Pros / Cons

Pros / Cons

Pros
Very rewarding champion for the time you put in.
Tremendous damage throughout the game.
High skill cap means that it's very noticeable when you improve your Draven play.
Excels at killing isolated targets.
Global pressure through his ultimate.

Cons
Not the simplest champion; if you don't play aggressively, then you need to change your play style heavily.
No built-in escapes from gap closers.
No real poking strength.
