Use of Lich Bane is a waste, also Zhonyas should be delayed. I'd go: Cata, Boots(dont recommend mercs either), RoA, Deathcap and then take the VS. Luxury items such as Zhonyas can be followed up after... There is no reason why you shouldn't take this build over yours. The rest is good I suppose.

You can play safe, but if you're playing against a team that have a good comunication, even playing safe sometime you're going to be ganked, and even with the slow + snare, its not 100% of hit chance, and if you miss, merc can save your cutie blonde of the gank.. And if someone on the other team has too much mgc res or have nothing, void staff + your mgc pen marks can deal with that, believe me. But is still a option to make a sorc, see on my guide that I say it's viable made this boots, but in my opinion, merc is the best boots for any champion.

PS: With the new Update, has appeared the tennacity stat, so merc isnt the core boots for all champions now, like jax that needs a tabi. So im going to update my build with the new item that have the tenacity stat, but merc still the best boots for lux, because I focused in my guide a Support/caster lux, and not a carrier/tank with mgc res destroyer, and a support always need to be supporting your team on a team battle, so if you get cc'ed, even if was for 1,5 sec like sion stun, it can cost you the battle, remember that. a good guide imo but.....

if u play it safe and use your range u wont need merc treads..... use ur stun and slow to stop being CC'd urself, and ruuuuuun.

take sorc boots instead as MR messing up your dmg output alot! with Mpen marks and these, anyone withour MR, has little to 0, thus your doing your potential damage (1k+ from lazor!!! every 24 seconds)
