Why the Gold Per Runes?

Well let me start off this guide by saying that I play Malphite this way because it addresses the one big hole in my gameplay, last hitting. If you watch the pros on the featured games, you constantly hear the ringing sound of a last hit. While I'm not pathetic at last hitting, I'm not at that level. So why not make your runes do the farming for you? You have gold per items in your build also, so everything works together. It allows you to easily out farm not only your opponents, but everyone in the game! This build is expensive, but most games I am able to finish it by the 30 minute mark, if not earlier. So if you are like me and cannot last hit like the pros, why not fill that all important hole in your gameplay? If you can afford more things, you kill more things. It's easy!

I'm not sure how accurate this is, but it is just an estimate of the amount of gold you get per minute:
With no runes or anything-13 gold per 10 seconds
With runes and masteries from this build-17.3 gold per 10 seconds
Total-30.3 gold per 10 seconds
Multiply that by 6 and you get 181.8 gold per minute for nothing!

Why teleport?

Because you are the tank. You don't need flash to escape. By the time your build is finished, it will take the opponent's entire TEAM to kill you. I got ganked by 3 people a few games ago, and I came away with a triple kill! Teleport will allow you to move between lanes to cover for people that go back to base or die. Covering lanes is a huge boost to your income and experience. Smite is obviously needed by every jungler.

EDIT: I like to warp to the nearest tower to the enemy's blue as soon as I purchase my items when the game starts. I place a ward in the grass next to their blue, then retreat and wait on the other side of the trees so I can smite the blue right under the enemy jungler's nose! This puts him way behind, and your mid can take your blue! This is a HUGE early game advantage!

The Masteries Explained

I use a lot of the utility side of the tree because it gives more gold per second. The runic affinity is a must for the jungle imo. Obviously you have to build the defense side of the tree because you are the tank.

Items

I get the regrowth pendant and a sight ward to start. I don't lay down the sight ward until I am ready to gank. You put the ward in the bushes near the enemies' tower and teleport to it for awesome surprise ganks. This will easily get double kills! On my first trip back, I will finish my philo stone and get boots for speed. You want to rush the heart of gold as soon as you can afford it so you can get more gold in the long run. The rest of the build has me building armor. Malph's "e" gets more damage from armor, and is your main source of damage. The sunfire cape is the first big purchase because it helps you with farming. At this point in the build you should be able to walk up to a wave of creeps and insta-kill them with your "e". Do this when your teammates go to base or die. Covering lanes is a quick way to earn gold and experience while also protecting your turret.

Skill Sequence

This build focuses on the "e" because it gains power with armor. The more armor you have, the more it takes to kill you. The more it takes to kill you, the more the opponent begins to fear you. When they begin to fear you, they end up with an eye patch. Don't end up with an eye patch, focus on leveling your "e". I just put one point in slow (q) around level 4 for ganks. If you find that you need a reduced c/d on the slow (q) and more slow, then you can level that instead of leveling your [w]. You want to initiate with your ult, but since we have no ap in this build, don't depend on it for doing too much damage. You can also use your ult for catching someone escaping, or saving your friends and turning around a teamfight.

Jungle Route

I start at blue with someone leashing. I ask them to stick around and do some damage to the blue also because Malphite doesn't kill it too fast the first time around. His auto attack sucks! Then I move to wolves, then wraiths. Go to golems right after that. After getting red, make one more trip to wraiths then you should have enough money to get boots and philo stone. If you have to interrupt your route to gank or cover a lane, hopefully you will get an income boost that will allow you to go back to base earlier to get your build going.

Summary

This build starts out slow, and you aren't able to deal much damage in early game. You start becoming dangerous right around the time you finish the sunfire cape. By the end of the game the opposing team will cower in your presence! They will either run or try to focus you down in teamfights, allowing your team to get the kills. Don't expect to get more than 10 kills in a game. It is perfectly fine and fun to get 25 assists! I hope you enjoy playing Malphite with this build as much as I do. Please be easy on me since this is my first build, but I am open to improving it if you guys have any suggestions!
