Why Support when you can carry and support
I disagree about usefulness of Morello's Evil Tome. If you don't build up Archangel I think that's a good choice because it gives some AP, mana regen (you won't need 2 philo stones) and more importantly it gives cooldown reduction which you should aim to max most of the time.
I like your ideology how Sona should be played AP. If you look at her in-game recommended items, it's pretty clear she's meant to be AP, but some people insist on building her aura-support which kinda fails her skills.
