Introduction
This is my first build, but I have played Xin Zhao for some time now. I think he is a great champion that you'll have to try if you can get the IP/RP. Xin Zhao is what many people call a faceroll champion. He is indeed extremely easy to play and easy to master. If played correctly he can cut almost any champion without help. Tanks with high armor and damage output will ofcourse be hard to kill. But squishies that are too stupid to not buy defensive items will die in like 3 seconds when using your ultimate. Enough boring talk lets get on with it!
For marks I go for armor penetration to cut through the enemys armor really easy at low levels. Else I go for attack speed, since the faster you hit the less cooldowns there will due to your Battle cry ability. Also it will get your Three talon strike finished in a couple of seconds. And with enough AD you will kill them extremely fast.
I use Flash and Exhaust because Flash is making it possible to Jump in and do major damage and then get away with it. Exhaust makes it impossible for anyone to 1v1 you and does a nice slow if they're getting away. Just remember to always save it for teamfights and a AD carry is doing too well. If he/she sucks then use it on another AD champ if they have one. If the AD carry is really bad then **** it and use it on the AP carry. Else always the AD.
For masteries I use a pretty standard physical focused mastery tree. Not gonna talk so much about this one because it's build that many use and therefore ain't too necesarry to talk about.
This mastery build makes leveling a little faster and your buffs will last a little longer. Even though this isn't necesarry i think it's a pretty good thing to have. I focus on attack speed and armor penetration in the Damage build because thats basicly all you need as Xin Zhao. I take improved exhaust (cripple) to make it almost impossible to 1v1 you since they will take a lot more damage.

The reason that i stack Charge first is that it will make it easy to finish off and enemy that is fleeing. The reason that I'm stacking Three Talon Strike is because I only use it for the knockup at early-mid game. Theres no need for that extra damage until late game. At mid it's more effectively to stack Battle cry first.
When I'm going in for a kill I start off with Battle Cry, Charge, Ultimate and then Three talon strike. This will bring down almost any champion in a few seconds. ALWAYS focus down the hard hitting champions first E.G. Vayne, Tryndamere, Akali and so on.

I start off with a Dorans blade since you need the early advantage it gives and Xin Zhao is a squishy. Therefore it's really nice to start with some Extra hp and lifesteal. Not too much lifesteal but enough for now.
After that i go for berserkers greaves and a black cleaver. This will boost your attack speed a lot and then your Armor penetration. When all 3 stacks of the black cleaver is on you will hit like a truck on your target.
After that I get Phantom dancers and Trinity force. You will hit really fast now and you have a chance to slow! Now you will probably dominate the field unless you have ******s on your team that are feeding the enemy.
For the last two options i go for a Bloodthirster and an Infinity edge. Now you will hit really really really hard and you regain a lot of hp. You will probably dominate anyone you see, but still you need to be aware of where you are running. They might attempt to lure you into a gank! Therefore always know that you have an escape rute before chasing somebody away from your team.

Here I'm going to say something about which stuff you should choose when needed (Surprise, surprise!)
Madred's Bloodrazors - These are the most effective item against a high HP champion like Cho'Gath, Mundo, Nasus. Although you have your ultimate. It will take 20% of their maximum hp. It will help a lot. With Razors you gonne kill them really fast. It's good but i would suggest you only to take this if you're facing a champion with 3,5k+ hp.
Last whisper - This will make you tear down your oppenents. BUT as far as i know it doesn't stack with Black cleaver. So therefore if you're buying this DON'T buy black cleaver. I will higly suggest you to take Black Cleaver since it gives more AD and it will be more effective against neutral mobs.
Banshee's Veil - A really good item. Blocking every negative spell every 45 seconds (or is it 30?) and giving hp, mana and magic resist. Really good item against AP heavy teams.
Quicksilver Sash - Really good for breaking out of CC and gives some Magic resist which is never a bad thing. As far as i know this is the only way to get rid of an exhaust on you.
