Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
A great Lee Sin player will be able to counter jungle you very effectively. If he builds damage, he is more vulnerable to your insane burst, but will QRQE you and kill you. If he builds tank he will try to keep you busy or disengage you from team fights. OUTPLAY his Stevie Wonder looking ass.
Nidalee
Always try to get the jump on this kitty before she gets the jump on you and there will be not much of a problem. Cat fight!
Amumu
Amu can be a real pain with his CC and decent amount of damage. He can just focus you all game and a good player won't let you escape even if you ult. The best thing to do is to kick the sadboy down early on before he gets ridiculously tanky!
Kindred
I would definitely say this is a skill matchup. Kindred has a great potential to carry and so do you. Try to solo her out once you have items so she won't be able to ult efficiently.
Malphite
The rock is your bane. If he goes ultra tank then anything you try to do near him usually will end up in your death. I would suggest not picking Rengar with Malphite on the enemy team but if this happens you're going to have to put out those sick plays.
Diana
Diana is almost on par with Lee Sin. Though she has more burst she has less escape. Try to focus her down if she's fed and a priority. Don't ever let her get her combos off on you.
Jax
Jax can be tricky but in my opinion he is fairly predictable most of the time. Don't use your Q or empowered Q on him if he's in helicopter mode. Other than that bust him quick!
Elise
Great Elise players are very controlling over the game, and can often set the pace of the game as well. Her sustain and sustained damage can get her the lead against you at every point of the game. And her cocoon can shut you down. It's best to engage her with your team.
Kha'Zix
You're yellow Rengar! With twice the stealth as this little bug. Squash him early and the game is yours. Get your in game perk and have fun with this matchup! Beware of his insane damage though.
Fizz
Experienced Fizz players, especially the ones who go jungle Fizz can often make you feel completely stupid with his troll pole plays and crazy damage. With a little planning and thinking though you can make some fizz sushi in no time. He can 100 to 0 you with the right combo, but you can do the same. Ulti and engage on him immediately. He will either Trollpole away from you or ontop of you after you jump him. Simply throw an empowered bola when he tries to run or sidestep his E and then go ham with an empowered Q. Maw is a good defensive item here.
Hecarim
Pony boy just got some nerfs but he can still do pony things. Greatly placed bolas or abusing his early game trinity for rush is a must against this guy.
Master Yi
Master Yi is a niche pick in most cases. The only thing he can do against you is dodge your bola or use his Meditate to negate your initial burst. A good empowered Bola or QQ burst will make this mathchup slide into your favor greatly.
Graves
Very annoying jungler. I despise Graves players. His combat stats and high damage plus the amount of lifesteal regen he can get makes the Cigarless mustache clad shotgunner a problem. You can jump on him and try to burst but he can pop smokescreen and then use all his abilities to blow you away once you do. An empowered Bola when he is alone and without backup will grant you a kill, though beware, if he has any sort of support then he will go in for the kill.
Gragas
Most people who play Gragas are drunk themselves. You can use your quick movement to bait or our completely juke three of his abilities. If he goes AP, burst him quick, If he goes a more standard build. Target his backline first then wrap back around to put this alcoholic to rest. He is in the middle of this matchup list purely because if his damage output.
Maokai
The tree can only negate so much of your damage. He is weak to you early on so use that to your advantage. Nobody likes a super tanky late-game tree.
Kog'Maw
Kog'Maw in the jungle now? These guys try to abuse the percent health damage on the junglers item. Sink your claws into this guy as many times as you can and make him regret his decision to go jg Kog. R into empowered Q usually makes him dissapear, and its satisfying to bolt out of there with your speed as Acathian Surprise tries to chase you.. again, and again.
Shaco
Shaco Shaco Shaco. He's going to do everything he can to annoy you, counter jungle you, and assassinate you. You have a few things to make this turn your way though. Your ult reveals where he is when he is in stealth, and an empowered bola into a few Q's will result in his death.
If he ults to avoid a bola or an empowered Q and baits you into a trap you will most likely get outplayed and he's going to do the worm on your corpse. So, ya know, don't let that happen.
Sejuani
Treat Sejuani like you would treat Malphite. They are both about the same in terms of it being a bad matchup. She's just going to single you out and be a very annoying constant threat of CC and Damage. She can also predict your stealth a bit better.
Pantheon
Pantheon is always a pain with his low cooldowns and high damage. Luckily your kit is a better version of his. His passive will block your intial cast of Q or empowered Q so try to blow it so you can burst him down. Don't get stunned and locked down from him and his team.
Rengar
Who's the better hunter? Obviously you are using the Yellow Rengar build!
Skarner
Don't see him much, but Skarner is a very underrated jungler. He has as much cc as the other tanks that are high up on this list to single you out but earns a score of 10 because everything in his kit counters yours. His slow will not let you escape with R. His ult will destroy you. His speed will catch you, his damage mixed with a couple of tanky items will let him duel you very effectively. Stay with your team and work with them to take down this guy together.
Vi
Has good CC like the other top counters on this list. Yet you can outplay and abuse Vi a lot more. Win early on before she builds trinity into tank and begins to focus you in fights.
Poppy
Poppy is pretty scary but not Skarner or Malphtie scary. Use your game knowledge and her slow mobility to beat her. Dont fight her near walls. She can block your jumps as well.
Shyvana
I would put Shyvana higher on the list but I feel like with her lack of CC you can definitely take advantage of this matchup. Late game damage Shyvana can wreck you though.
Udyr
There's a big skill gap between a good Udyr player and an average Udyr player. Good Udyr's will build accordingly to negate a lot of your burst, then just turn on you when you have used most of it with a bear stance slap and some tiger form autos and you will be near death by then. If he's not good he will fall to your burst.
Tahm Kench
He can avoid most of your burst, then eat you and throw you into his team of CC and death. I would not want to pick Rengar into Tahm but if you do then the best thing to do is avoid his tongue lash and then go in for some damage, back away quickly once he has three stacks on you and then re-engage with ultimate once the stacks fall off. A
Tryndamere
Tryndamere is but a shadow of his old glory. You can invade him without much worry. And out damage him most of the game. After 6 he will try to fight you but all you need to do is burst all his health then bola him and kite, once the invulnerability ends, end him.
Nunu & Willump
Nunu CAN control the game if he's good. His snowballs slow you down by ALOT, and his ult and tankiness can really be a pain. Though all you need to do is really press your advantages and damage and the yeti will lose.
Warwick
While Warwick can certainly lock you down with his ulti. After it's down he is nothing but a pup with auto attacks and a bit of healing. Nothing you can't handle or do better yourself.
Evelynn
She's a bit better of a team fighter I guess. I don't get matched with many Evelynns. Though I know that you should out damage her and your kit is slightly better. You can also see her running around with your Ultimate. Just outplay!
Xin Zhao
You get those really bad Xins who farm most of the game or try to gank and end up dying 2 v 1 to one of your laners. You can just demolish those with your burst.
Then you get the scary Xin players who can farm and gank very effectively. Who will buy sweepers and pinks and eventually out damage you and be able to carry their entire team with more farm then his own laners by 25 minutes. You're going to have to work with the team to overcome those ones.
Rek'Sai
Rek'sai nerfs are nice. It makes things easier for you with this build. She gets fairly tanky and her sustained damage is a pain against you.Good Reksai players will unburrow as you get the jump on them and then proceed to wreck your face so beware. Put a lot of early pressure on her.
Volibear
Volibear is almost on-par with Rek'sai. Decent damage and decent health. Though from playing against many Voli I've learned that if you burst him down quick enough he becomes useless.
Olaf
Olaf is crazy. With the right build and a few kills he can completely overcome you. His ultimate makes him free from CC so he can just run at you without a care. His Q's also slow for a decent amount. Only way to win this is making sure you punish his mistakes. Counter-ganking and pressuring pre-6 is a must to win against the viking warrior.
Zac
I love Zac as a champion but he's going to be a little low on this list. He has great damage, sustain and ability to carry his team but against your immense damage and burst you can hunt the blob at most points of the game. You can also quickly deal with his passive with a Q and W and E. Don't give Zac the time to engage on you, and you win.
Wukong
This guy can definitely wreck you. He will just jump to you and Q then Ult right after and by then you're already at half health or lower. Bait out some of his abilities then burst him quick.
Rammus
While Rammus is everything that you hate. With reflecting auto attack damage and a taunt that will have you feeling stupid as his team drops the bomb. He is easy to fall if you work with a team mate to outplay him. Try to not get taunted, and if he builds all armor and thornmail, just focus him last.
Fiddlesticks
Haha you eat scarecrows for breakfast.
He's so squishy, and only has a fear to avoid death... for a few seconds.
Ekko
A lot of this matchup depends on who is playing Ekko. Tank Ekko will try to stunlock and slow you until you're dead. Just avoid his abilities and burst him until he ults then chase him down. (If he doesn't have backup)
Ap Ekko will most likely E directly into you and throw out his Q right after and then proc his passive with one auto attack and right there most of your health is gone. Use his Cooldown time to your advantage and try to burst. Getting an empowered bola off on him is deadly.
Diana
You and Diana are very similar. Insane burst if you land abilities. Some defensive abilities. Strong Auto attacks.
You beat Diana early and even middle game, but if she's racked up some kills and gets the right items, late game she can and will burst you down just as quick as you can burst her down. The problem is she can build more tankier items and do just as much damage as you. Take caution.
Nocturne
Nocturne is a very even matchup. He can block a bola or empowered auto attack Q then turn on you to kill you. This is all about watching him carefully for mistakes then going in for the kill.
He will be doing the same.
Kled
This new guy talks too much, shut him up and claim is little annoying head. Sidestep his Q, then out damage him. Once you delete Skarl's health bar he's only a little rodent than you can swiftly execute.
Cho'Gath
Good Cho'Gath players are despised by almost every Jungler. He has high damage and CC and can build tank or damage and do very well against you. Your movement speed and watching your health bar is your strength here.
Quinn
Another annoying ADC jungler. She has a few tricks that can make things very hard for you. Her blind blocks a lot of your damage and her knockback gives her time to get off damage or avoid you.
What you can do her is completely destroy her by Ulting and running straight at her. If she gets off her knockback then save an empowered bola strike to lock her down then immediately burst her down.
Nautilus
The most CC heavy champion in League. Which means a very bad time for you. His shield blocks a lot of damage. He can then Auto attack you for a root, W for slow, then Q for another root, and right after Ult you for a 2 second knockup at max rank. Avoid this guy. Or if you can't try to make his slow early game useless with your team so later on he's not so big. Naut will make sure you don't even have a chance to burst anyone.
Trundle
Trundle has a slow and can be on-par with damage if he bites you, and if you try to burst him he can Ult you to get a lot of health and make your stats very weak. Work with a team mate to beat the troll.
Irelia
Irelia is rare in the jungle but a formidable jungle opponent. The best thing to do against Irelia is to try to get way ahead of her. She will overpower you naturally but if you get a good amount of kills and items you can put her down. You need to beat her before she gets Bloodrazer and Triforce. Or else she becomes a huge threat, and will be able to scrap with you effectively.
Malzahar
Malzahar can lock you down and make you useless, and if he gets Rylai's then its even harder for you. His passive will negate any forward burst you try to do. To win against a Malzahar you have to utilize the small windows of vulnerability he has after his passive is up, his ultimate is down, and he has under three or two voidlings.
Yasuo
The only thing Yasuo can do against you is Windwall a bola or two. Other than that your burst damage puts the swordsman down swiftly. Do not underestimate his outplay and burst.
Kayle
Kayle is item dependent, and also depends on her ult to fully utilize her power.
Early on, especially pre-6 is when she will be at her weakest. Use that time wisely. If she has Ruunan's and Rageblade, she will begin a fight to gain stacks and make you think she is going all in and vulnerable but then will ult when she's about 20 percent health and be an invulnerable angel of death. Three auto attacks with stacked Rageblade and you're done, then your team shortly after. Without her ultimate though, she's easy pickings to your burst.
Darius
Darius has a lot of brute force, but he falls pray to a skilled assassin like yourself. It's best to blow everything you have and burst him quick since he will most likely be trying to charge headfirst into your team to get his stacks off to proc his passive which makes him a god. Abuse his bloodthirst and laugh as he tries to ult you at 5% health and only does 150 damage.
Hello I'm Whiskey Wind! I used to be Platinum Elo last season now I'm sitting at Gold 4.
tl;dr
I'm tight with money, I have an old HP laptop I play on that only gets 3-10 max fps while playing League. It sounds cliche but I really do think I deserve a much higher elo, but I literally CAN'T advance further with this laptop. I lose about .5 to 1 second of reaction time with this and yet I still just got to Gold. So I've downgraded from Platinum and just got Gold V again a few weeks ago. I was almost into diamond series when my desktop burned out. I have almost five years of LoL experience. League is the only game I play and still continue to play even if the frames give me cancer every day. So while I'm trying to avoid ranked on this laptop I'll be making guides. I'm putting as much effort as I can into it so I hope you enjoy!
