Master Yi Build
Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
First off this build is geared towards heavy dps but lacks in the area of health so if you have issues surviving get a Giants Belt and build into a Frozen Mallet.
I run cleanse, ghost on Yi, which leaves his ultimate as another method of escape. If you need to back door go with Teleport ghost and if you need moderate killing spells, run either exhaust or ignite making his ult an escape mech.
I spec 21/0/9 with emphasis on critical chance and bonus critical damage. I spec 9 in utility to help with experience gain and buffs.
The skill order I use emphasizes alpha strike which is your primary farming tool so it is maxed first. I get wuju style at the beginning because it is not very mana intensive to spam and helps with last hits. I get meditate second or alpha strike second depending on the harassment level of the opposing team. If you are getting hammered, get meditate if farming is going smoothly (if that ever happens) get alpha strike.
For runes, I have 9 in attacks speed, mana regen per level/5 seals because Yi is extremely mana intensive especially in a quadra kill situation, and crit damage glyphs. I supplement this build with armor penetration quintessences. Yi's starting health is decent so I do not worry too much about flat health quints.
As far as item build is concerned here is the down low. First off, I get boots of speed as the first item. This helps you dodge a lot of annoying skill shots and aoe harass such as Garen's spin to win and Mundo's cleaver. Also, the Health pots and mana pots help keep you up while in lane. Yi does not have a fantastic early game, so play conservatively. Remember that Yi is mana intensive. I stay and farm/lane and save up for a BF sword. Because of wuju style and Yi's basic attack damage you should be at pretty decent damage output with the BF sword. Rush this into infinity edge. I cannot emphasize enough that farming and taking jungle creeps is extremely important. It will help you get Infinity Edge so much faster, and a few kills do not hurt. Start taking Blue and Red buffs as you need to, it will help you farm and get some 1evels and kills a lot easier. After Infinity Edge you have a pretty decent damage output and crit for a decent amount, so now you need some lifesteal for those nasty fights you get into. Following lifesteal, you want a bit of attack speed (zeal). Now you get brutalizer which gives some nice cool down reduction, some armor pen, and some damage.
At this point, you can duo baron. Yes... Duo baron. Pick someone decently bulky on your team and go do it. After brutalizer finish Wriggle's and then follow into Ghostblade and Phantom Dancer, not sure why the game is not over yet at this point. In the event it is not, top it with Tri-elixir. At this point you basically just destroy anything. I have done several triples and a few quadras with this build. If you play it right you should hit about 1 triple kill or at least 1 double every game.
I am not going to go into a Yi build here if you run into a very tanky meta, so if you would like to know, I will gladly make another Yi build with the appropriate items etc. Also, I can build you a jungle Yi if you would like. Please comment as this is my first build!
