Hello, My name is Ritorushi. I am writing this guide in hopes that it may help some of the people who claim that Yorick is under-powered.
Pros: -Amazing harassment during laneing phase
-Summons ghouls to help fight
-Great in a team fight, able to deal steady damage and take a hit as well
-A amazing ultimate for taking towers
Cons: -Squishy early game
-Late game damage leaves much to be desired
-The ghouls stated earlier are severely under-powered (Last about 1 second)
I tend to use ArmorPen marks and ArmorPen Quins for the extra damage (which really can put you very far ahead early game). For defense I grab Armor seals and MagicRes glyphs (which add a lot on your early game survivability)
I go 23/6/1 (which is a very odd build I know) for the extra damage output from offense and the armor and MagicRes from defense (the 1 point in support is for ghost naturally)
A bunch of people build Yorick with huge mana pools or stack AD for decent damage. But in all honesty I don't think those are completely viable builds (This is my own opinion, some may not share it) I grab a Ruby Crystal first for the extra health and build it into a Phage first chance I get, I then build Mercury Treads for the MagicRes and tenacity. Warmogs is then rushed for survivability, then i finish the Phage into a Frozen Mallet. I build a Atma's Impaler to turn all of that HP into some beautiful AD. Finish the build off with a Black Cleaver and Last Whisper to add some very nice ArmorPen and AD (not to forget the speed from Black Cleaver)
Some people may look at my lack of mana items and call me crazy but i have yet to rune into a time where i have regretted not getting any.
I tend to grab a point in Omen of Famine (Heals Yorick for 50% of initial Damage and 100% of the damage the ghoul does after) for early game harass and then proceed to prioritize Omen of war (Deals significant damage and summons a ghoul that increases your movement speed when near) (grabbing a point in Omen of pestilence at level 4 which is your only AoE spell and slows enemies in the blast radius and near the ghoul it summons) After War is done I proceed to max out Famine followed quickly by Pestilence.(Putting points into his ultimate whenever possible naturally)
For Summoner spells I grab Ghost for escaping/and or chasing and Clarity. Clarity is a must for Yorick in this build, He is a very easy champion to go oom with. Clarity gives you the mana to get through the laneing phase with barely ever having to go back to base. Other spells are viable such as Ignite,Flash,etc (You know which spells you like)
Yorick is a very good laner due to his ghouls, they allow him wonderful early game harass which can (and has) lead to enemies being severely under-leveled. Your job is to keep the enemy on their toes and keep them paranoid. Yorick is great paired with a CCer due to the fact that if he gets near you he can easily take out half your hp in 2seconds flat. Yorick is very lacking late game though so you want to push early and hope to take a few towers as soon as possible.(His ultimate allows him to take towers faster than normal) But remember, Yorick is only as good as his team he can not carry a team. He can HELP carry but not by himself.
All in all this is a Tanky Yorick build with some decent damage as well. (I have gone 9/0/4 with this build) Yorick is I admit decently under-powered in the sense of how they wanted him to play (his ghouls, which they wanted to be a big part of his fighting style, are considered a joke.)
