Threats to Sion with this build
|Cho'Gath||I've never had an issue with a Cho honestly, but true damage is always a pain in the ass, try not to walk near this monster if you're low.|
Hello everyone! My name is Aka no O which translates into The Red King I am currently Silver V. This is my first guide on Mobafire. I'm making this because of the lack of Sion builds and I thought "Hey, I've been playing Sion a lot lately and winning. Maybe I should show people" To get to the point Sion is a VERY brutal champion, his CC combined with his tankiness makes him almost invincible. He has very strong ganking power and a more than nice camp clearing kit.
Season 5 as of 11/20/2014
I've been playing season 5 on pbe for a bit but didn't take much time to learn it as I will always be a season 2 fan at heart and I honestly don't like season 5 all that much. There's still much much much more for me to learn but at the moment it seems like Rangers Trailblazer is the best jungle item with consideration for the stalker blade. I will update this guide as I learn more so bare with me. Thank you.
Pros / Cons
+ Extremely strong CC
+ Hard to kill
+ High Ratios
+ High HP all throughout the game
+ Can carry even as a tank if played right
+ Good camp clear
- Easy to kite
- CC can screw you over easily
- If behind can become useless
- Useless passive
- No hard escape
- Spells/Items that do damage based on HP counter you hard
Sion's basic spells
GLORY IN DEATH Is Sions passive. it allows you to come back from the dead
as a pseudo threat, basically you prance around until you fall over.
This passive has no cooldown and you gain a set amount of attack speed
100% lifesteal and all spells turn into a speed boost that decays.
While in this state your HP drains quickly and you cant use any spells.
DECIMATING SMASH is your Q ability, it has an extremely high flat ad along with a insane AD ratio. This is a channel ability that keeps you in place while you charge your axe upwards getting ready to slam down in a cone knocking anyone up caught in it depending on how long you charged the spell. The spell will not knock enemies up if it isn't charged at least half way
SOUL FURNACE is your W ability. Sion's main damage and his source of sustain. Killing units provides 2 PERMANENT HP and 10 for big monsters/champions. Activating SOUL FURNACE Charges a red sphere of death around sion, after a short while it'll explode dealing HEAVY aoe damage around him, after 2 seconds you can trigger it yourself or you can wait for it to explode by itself.
ROAR OF THE SLAYER is your E ability. Sion lets out a shout in a line that slows and reduces armor, if it hits a monster/minion it'll send it flying extending the actual range. Sending a monster/minion flying into terrain will briefly stun it.
UNSTOPPABLE ONSLAUGHT is Sion's ultimate ability. Once activated sion charges forward gaining speed as he travels, the farther Sion travels the more damage he will do and the longer the stun will last. You can turn while moving but it's extremely slow. Upon reaching your destination (or your enemies damnation) you slam down and deal huge AOE damage and knock up anyone around you. Running into terrain will get you briefly stunned
P.S. Easy way to lock someone down is to W, Ult, Q, E, W
Greater Mark of Attack Damage
Pretty basic stuff, more AD=faster camp clear and stronger ratios early on.
Attack speed marks wouldn't work out too well since the way I build Sion he's a AD caster.
Greater Seal of Armor
Again, basic stuff. More armor=easier time in the jungle and overall an easier time with AD champs. Health seals could be considered but armor is just a better option.
Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist
Scaling MR is the best option right now when it comes to glyphs. At level 6 you gain 6 MR total which may not sound like much but that makes a huge difference. And it scales into your late game where APC's shine.
Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage
Once again, basic. More AD=Faster camp clear, and higher ad ratios.
Movement speed quints could be considered since sion is a very slow champion. But with this build your opponents really shouldn't be getting away, let alone moving.
There's no need with the amount of CC you have, and you're jungling. There's no need.
Sure you could replace flash for ignite but why? Flash provides so much more.
Exceptional spell, I always run flash. You can position yourself with it, escape with it, engage with it, save people and so on and so on. It's the best spell in the game to this day.
Kill yourself. Useless.
There's no need. With Quill Coat you have increased mana regen and health regen.
Heal is widely used this season, more so than any other season. Almost rivaling flash. But you're in the jungle, why the hell do you need heal as Sion anyway.
This is not a bad spell, it's one of the better ones. If you want to be the play maker, the one who is everywhere all the time, this is the spell for you. Map awareness is required, lol
Nice spell but not needed on you of all people. A waste.
This can be considered, not my first choice but you can take it if you want.
27% movement speed for quite some time can let you catch up. You decide.
I dunno you tell me.
You have a barrier that's better in your own kit. Please don't ever do this.
FLASH AND SMITE IS THE WAY TO GO PEOPLE.
WARD PLACEMENT Ward placement is key in keeping the game together, Vision can be a game changer. Here is how I ward.
How I path myself to mid lane.
How I path myself to top lane.
How I path myself to bot lane.
Of course pathing can change under certain situations, this is just a generalization
THANK YOU FOR READING
Sion is one of the best tanks in the game if not the best, give him a spin and maybe you'll
discover your next friend.
Thank you for reading this, I'm sorry if you disagree with anything or find this guide worthless. I'm just a guy trying to help. Feedback would be appreciated, let me know what you guys are thinking. Just keep in mind this is my 1st time doing this kind of thing :)
I'd like to give a shout out to Mcsniped for introducing me to the game 3 years ago.
May the Sion ults be with you.
