Hey guys, I was surfing thru MF yesterday and saw that there were no good AP Maokai builds. I saw that most guides told ppl to play him as a tank, not a AP mage. It's true, Maokai is generally a bit tanky cus of his health, but trust me, if you play AP Maokai, you will RAPE. His E will hit around 6~700, while his W will hit around 350~400. It is AWESOME.

Maokai's Sapling Toss (e) is an awesome nuke/ward/bush examiner. Get to your lane with your partner pretty late and fear an ambush from the bush? Well, toss a sapling in and it will scout the bush AND do damage at the same time. BOOYA. Then, you go in, attack with your partner, ignite, do what you have to do, and BOOM first blood or first blood assist.
Sapling toss is also a GREAT farm move. Although Maokai isn't the BEST farmer early game, his sapling toss will DESTROY WHOLE MINION WAVES when you're about 3/4 way thru with this build. I mean WHOLE MINION WAVES (except for maybe the siege cannon minions, but those guys are hard to kill anyhow with any character).

Many AP casters, such as Veigar, are generally very squishy and easily destroyed. With an AP Maokai? NP! He has around 3k health at lvl 18, so he won't go down that easily. Plus, with ghost popped on, he will be able to run away from almost anything except a ghost using rolling Rammus that has been sped up by Zilean. But that is rarely ever going to happen, so NP.
Generally, your skill combo should be throw a sapling, then W to them and then Q. Ult and release if you have to, and also ignite if you have to. Boom, you can kill most squishy character with this build and that combo and good timing. mwahahahahaha Maokai is a rapist tree.

Well bros, thats about it, and with common sense you guys should be able to do things on your own. Just follow this build, and you will have a lot of AP by lvl 18.
