I don't like it. I find that rushing the Rylai's gives me a lack of sustain, and a WoTA just didn't really seem to fit into the tank/offtank role Mumu typically is supposed to fill. I felt heavier on AP than on tankiness, and it just didn't sit well with me. Also, the walls of text in the guide just made it daunting to even begin to read.

Such horrible runes! These would be pitiful in the jungle - you would have tons of mana, but never enough defense/hp to sustain or gank with.

i already know that u did not try this build, otherwise, you "would" find that it works, and you "wouldn't" use words like "would," which is a conditional verb, but i feel the need to explain myself for anyone else that may be misdirected by ur comment.

i take a Cloth Armor and 5 Health Potions instead of Regrowth Pendant to make up for the lack of armor. i actually don't even require a leash on blue if i take Tantrum at lvl 1 instead of Despair. i only end up using 3 potions, and i still have between 2/3 and 3/4 health left the whole time in the jungle. if i plan to gank, i may use another potion so i have more initial health. if you look at my masteries, i take +6 armor, reduce damage from minions by 4, and have +3 health regen. the damage reduction synergizes so well with Amumu's passive for Tantrum that you barely notice the damage the neutral creeps are dealing by the time Tantrum is lvl 3.

the idea behind the Mp5 runes is to eventually become independent of the blue buff at later levels so your AP carry can take it. you can actually keep Despair activated without losing mana (while not using any other abilities), not that i recommend doing that, but that's just to give you an idea of the amazing mana sustain late game with this rune build. when i (eventually) upload videos (after i finish basic military training for the air force and get the money for a better computer), i will show exactly how i jungle. the match histories don't lie, either.

summary: it DOES work. i'm sorry that i don't have actual video footage of myself jungling to prove it. but please actually try my build (or anyone else's) before criticizing it, thx.

thx man! as for the smiteless jungling, i do it for 2 reasons. 1, the enemy team assumes that u afked when u don't have smite and u port back. 2, when the enemy team has no jungler, u and ur partner can easily become LVL6 before they do. this will help you guys have the ulti advantage when u go gank. btw you can do it at lvl 2 now w/ the "nerfed jungle!" the new jungle makes jungling ridiculously easy b/c not only did they make the neutral creeps easier to kill so that u can jungle at even the earlier lvls w/o smite, but additionally, the blue buff got buffed, where now it provides an additional flat 25 Mp5 as well as Mp5 based on a percentage of ur Mana! so while you have the blue buff, Mana pretty much does not run out. you will finish the jungle roughly 1:00-2:00 minutes slower than an Amumu with Smite.

also, a lot of ppl say that Smite is important for Dragon or Baron stealing, but I've been able to time my Bandage Toss + Curse of the Sad Mummy multiple times to steal it without using Smite. Of course, having Smite helps a tons. When you insert Smite into that combo, it's pretty much a no-brainer (relative to other jungling champions) to steal Dragon/Baron.

anyway man i'm glad u liked the guide. when i eventually get vids up i'll try to showcase every Amumu playstyle whether it's in lane, solo, or jungle.

I think this guide has everything an amumu guide should have and all the stuff I found good in other guides are here. I am not so sure about the smiteless jungling idea, because if you duo lane and then leave your partner you will both be low on xp at that point. on the otherhand amumu does not really need smite later so teleport would make up for it later.

i understand ur point, and that the gold per 5 eventually pays for itself, but i'm trying to farm my items as quickly as possible, and getting set back 1625g from the get-go doesn't help. we're building for different purposes, not to mention our playstyles. like u said, ur going full tank, which means ur mainly providing support and CC, as well as the constant DPS aura, w/ ur abilities. the warmog's armor is definitely going to help you there (i've tried it before on mumu, very tanky). but i'm building more like a "carry tank," so i try to maximize my damage output (while remaining tanky enough to initiate, deal some damage, and survive) and get gold thru CS and champion kills/assists, and having the items i get early-game rly helps in that respect. anyway, the way most games pan out, if the match is about even, the ppl on ur team that can carry will rise to take that role. but there's only one tank, so i make sure to do what i must to get gold as quickly as possible (while still getting the items that i want to). anyway, thx for ur input, and i'm glad to get any feedback, positive or negative, on my build since it means ppl are taking the time to look thru it and comment. :D

I don't understand why you insist on taking farm from a carry, I mean if you got gp5 you wouldn't need to take farm in the first place. :I
