Opening Statement

Greetings audience, you're about to witness my first ever guide so don't hyperventilate every time you see a formatting mistake or simply a honest content mistake.

I'll try to put colour here and there.

The following chapters will give you an insight on how I like to play Zed.

Zed is a high burst mid caster that excels at the assassination of low health targets.

Enjoy.

Summoner Spells

Ignite
Why wouldn't you take this? it helps Zed trigger his passive.
I'd kill for true damage on Zed.
Flash
Don't you dare even think about taking another summoner spell other than flash.
Exhaust
If you're really keen for a date with Vayne or something go for it I guess.

Zed's Abilites

Contempt for the weak

Contempt for the Weak is probably my favorite Champion passive in the game. The basic attacks of Zed deal 8% of the target's maximum health as bonus magic damage against targets below 50% health. This is what makes last hitting a walk in a very small park.

The passive is also the reason why you always take Executioner .

Razor Shuriken

Razor Shuriken is fairly straight forward. It's a skill shot with a small range (Unless you're using Living Shadow) that deals less damage to preceding targets as opposed to the first target. Damage is as follows, 75/115/155/195/235 (+100% bonus AD) physical damage to the first enemy and 45/69/93/117/141 (+60% bonus Attack Damage)physical damage to the targets hit after.

Living Shadow

Living Shadow is your escape/catch up ability. It has it's own passive that grants Zed bonus AD based on the level of Living shadow, it is as follows. Grants 5/10/15/20/25% additional bonus Attack Damage.

Active: Zed's shadow dashes forward, remaining in place for 4 seconds. Reactivating Living Shadow will cause Zed to switch positions with this shadow. Zed's shadows mimic his abilities. If an ability strikes any target twice, Zed restores 20/25/30/35/40 energy. Energy can only be restored once per mimicked ability.

Shadow Slash

Shadow Slash: Zed and his shadow slash, dealing 60/90/120/150/180 (+80% bonus AD) physical damage to nearby enemies. Each enemy champion hit by Zed's Shadow Slash reduces Living Shadow's cooldown by 2 seconds. Each enemy hit by a mimicked Shadow Slash will be slowed by 20/25/30/35/40% for 1.5 seconds.Enemies hit by both Shadow Slashes will be slowed by 30/37.5/45/52.5/60% but will not take additional damage.

Death Mark

Death Mark is your trade mark ability. It has a low CD, and is a necessity when 100 to 0ing anything that might be a little bit fed. Don't ever team fight or commit to a 1v1 without it.

Zed becomes untargetable and dashes to target enemy champion. Upon arrival, he marks the target for death and spawns a Living Shadow behind the target. This shadow lasts 4 seconds and mimics Zed's abilities. Reactivating Death Mark will cause Zed to switch positions with this shadow. After 3 seconds, the mark will trigger, dealing physical damage equal to 100% Attack Damage plus 20/35/50% of all magic and physical damage dealt to the target by Zed and his shadows while the mark was active.

Early Game

Here your main objective is to farm. You should be also trying to harass your fellow lanner and even attempting to trade. Here are your early game combos.

General Poking combos

Living Shadow + Razor Shuriken
Don't be a moron, only use this when you KNOW where the **** Mr Jarvan IV is. This is your general poke combo, it's basically all I do, works really well for Bronze to Gold elo lanners. Available at lvl 2.

Living Shadow + Shadow Slash + Razor Shuriken

Same rule applies about the whereabouts of the jungler. Cast your Living Shadow next to the enemy, use Shadow Slash slowing them and dealing damage and then hit them with ease with your Razor Shuriken. Available at lvl 3.

ALL IN

Death Mark+ Ignite+ Living Shadow+ Shadow Slash+ Razor Shuriken+ Blade of the Ruined King+AA+ Living Shadowor Death Mark

Your All in combo. I try to do this once I hit 6 (Through without the blade of the ruined king) if I know where the enemy jungler is. Through try to harass the enemy lanner before you try to execute them with the combo.

Other things to consider early game is the possible jungle interactions at Red buff. Always pay attention to your mini map and listen for pings, it could result in you or your jungler getting first blood. Look for roaming possibility.

Mid game

If you've done all of the above then you should have your Blade of the Ruined King now, and your 1v1 should be the strongest amongst all your team members. Here is the time of teamfights at dragon and mid lane.

You have one of two options, A) Stick around for a team fight and wait for a catch out by your initiator or you onto a lonely Sona, or B) You split push top or bot down and bait out their best dueler. If you win that fight against the enemy dueler you'll either get a turret, or another team mate of the enemy team will come down and prevent you from taking the tower. This will free up mid making it a 4v3 and your team will be able to push down that turret.

Late game

With the advantages you have gained from your split pushing endeavors you should be able to take an inhibitor and go for a baron. The game should be an easy victory from here. Travel with your team.
