Introduction
I personally like to backdoor and apply pressure to the other team. I also prefer very high mobility champions and good support champions.
For all that you have Zilean. I play him in Dominion as a Point Capturer and a support in team fights. With my build you should be constantly running around, while recovering in the process your lost HP and Mana.
By the way, he's one of the most annoying champions in all of the game.
- High mobility;
- Constant pressure to the enemy team;
- Great support ability;
- Buying time for your team;
- Prevent backdooring.
Cons:
- No damage output;
- Weak against stealth champions;
- Uncapable of defending a backdoor from more than 1 or 2 enemies (which is fine, because usually backdoors happen from only 1 enemy);
- Can't backdoor against global skills, like ultimates from Pantheon, Karthus, Ezreal, Gankplank, and others;
- Outrunned in speed only from Rammus with moving boosts (ghost for example);
- Weak if focused in team fights.
Boots of Mobility might make you too vulnerable.
Also, that build up above is the Core Build. You can pick other items later (if the game goes that far) for what you are lacking in game. I'll leave that to your criteria.
My goal with this build is, like I said, to apply constant pressure to unprotected Capture Points they might have as well support my team. Which is highly disruptive of enemy play in my opinion. Even if they have all the time someone defending a given point (say, one point which is a Quest Objective), it allows you to go back and assist your team or capture a different point.
Your main goal is to be running around all the time to:
- Capture an unprotected point;
- Harass your enemy at the center of the map, preventing them from getting the Greater Relic Buff;
- Assist an ally to run back and not get killed or even ressurect an ally;
- Prevent backdooring on your own captured points;
- Promote
With this spell you can make enemy point gathering easier, or just help defend a large minion wave incoming. Minions have an important job in Dominion strategy since they take HP from the captured points. HP which recovers slowly, making the contested capture point vulnerable.
- Garrison
This is THE most important Summoner Spell for Dominion gameplay. It makes a fight near a Point more successfull, interrupts a gather of a point, and hastes the very slow HP regen of an ally point.
Note:
At the moment, I need to test Promote more to see if it really is worth having equipped. For what it seems to me, the powerup to the minion seems not enough, and if some champion is defending the point the minion is moving to, you practically wasted Promote on it. It only seems worth when you Promote a minion on wave moving on its own, while the enemy team is distracted.
