Introduction

Welcome to Bellexandria's Zyra guide!

This guide is meant for mid lane only. While it's possible to play Zyra as other roles, I tend to pick her for a mid. I apologize for the sparseness in this guide, it's a work in progress!

Pros / Cons

Because everyone loves pro/con lists!

+ Zoner
+ Pusher
+ Great crowd-control with Grasping Roots and Stranglethorns

- Few escapes, less mobile
- Squishy
- Based on skill-shots, missing is wicked bad

Masteries & Summoner Spells

The build is a standard AP build I use with most AP mids. I take Teleport for map control instead of Ignite. Ignite is a great alternative, but you would need to change your masteries to take a point in Summoner's Wrath instead of Mental Force .

Skill Sequence

> > deadly bloom
stun > plant > bloom

Land a Grasping Roots then plant a few seeds with Rampant Growth and bloom with Deadly Bloom. Ideally, it would be good to get one of each type of plant, and follow up with Stranglethorns:

stun > plant > bloom > plant > ulti

We take Grasping Roots at level one in case of a level two gank. Otherwise, we max deadly bloom for more burst, then Grasping Roots.

Items

Starting Out


No contest here, at least for me. :) I prefer to start this way over a Doran's Ring, but it is a worthy alternative.

Early Game


-> catalyst the protector

I'll usually build the catalyst of the protector for more sustain, and then finish the boots. A Doran's Ring or two may not hurt either!

Mid Game



I finish off a Rod of Ages here, since it's almost done.

Late Game



In late game, I'll pick based on what's needed.
