I have been having trouble with hitting skill shots up close because there seems to be a time lag or reaction lag whenever I try. I have a better chance of hitting the longer range skillshots though. For short range I have to consider the direction and the small micro juking but for longer ranges it really hit or miss.

I have never been really accustom to smartcasting. Other than smartcasting, are there any other advice or suggests for hitting it?

You have to predict there movements. Try see how they usually move etc...

Some skill shots are easier then other morg's q is one harder ones i would say long cd so if you miss your boned.

also quite slow

Just learn smartcasing ;)

It's sooooo worth the first few games getting confused about the new unusual mechanics. You will be surprised how stupid regular clickclickclicking was if you try it again after you got used to smartcast.

When smartcasting is there certain macros or key setup that may be easier to smartcast?

Just set everything to smartcast on your normal keys. Everything becomes a lot faster and champions like Ryze or Cassiopeia become a lot easier to chain combos with.

I just rebind Self/Smartcast to my regular spellcasting keys in the keybinding menu. I also bind the normal cast keys to Shift + spellcasting keys but you gotta dig in a config file for that.

Somewhat related: I often see people making fun of others when they miss a close-up skillshot, such as Ashe Arrow.

--> Keep in mind, that while it's impossible for the enemies to dodge said skillshots after they are fired, it's often easy to predict and basically dodge them before they are shot. To further make it "worse" if an enemy is good in predicting, the nearer you are to an enemy, the faster they run angles. And dodging skillshots is all about walking angles ;)

All about them jukes, trying to anticipate where you think the skillshot will be coming from as opposed to the player actually shotting the skilshot. All a mind game.

Sometimes the often downfall is when when you're like half dead so all you're thinking about is making out of there alive and the fastest way out is running in a straightline back to the turret.
