You could, imo champs aren't worth the RP. Takes me about a week or so of playing to get 6.3k IP if I REALLY want it, otherwise I just get it gradually over 2 weeks or so.
However I do spend RP on skins because I obviously have to beautify my favorite characters.

I support buying RP since that keeps the servers up and running. Morgana is 1350 IP, I suggest buying her with IP, Viktor for 975 RP is fine investment if you don't play a ton. I usually buy champions with RP when they're on 50% off sale with RP from Tournaments or just out of my pocket.
