Hey guys, how r you?
I would like some advices from experienced players about playing Riven on the top lane... In the last two games I got zoned and screwed, first against a Jax and then against a Rumble...
I have the replay of the Rumble's game :
What did I do wrong in that game?
Thanks alot and sorry about the poor english
Unfortunately I can't seem to view your replay file. I can see the score screen though so I have a couple tips.
Against a Rumble you'll want to start with Boots of Speed and 3 health potions. Build 2-3 doran's blades and a Hexdrinker if you're having trouble dealing with his damage (you can throw in a Vampiric Scepter for more sustain). If you're having a good early game you can skip the Hexdrinker and go straight for The Bloodthirster.
Don't build The Brutalizer and don't go for Guardian Angel until you finish a main damage item. I usually don't build it until I have at least The Bloodthirster completed.
End-game build should look something like this:
Usually your situational defense item is either Maw of Malmortius or Randuin's Omen. You can and should use Ninja Tabi against AD tops, at least for the first half of the game or so. You can always swap them out late game.
If you're laning against an AP like Rumble, make sure you're runed for it. Use 21/9/0 masteries with 3 points in Resistance . Make sure you have Greater Glyph of Magic Resist. I'd probably just run armor seals and AD marks/quints for the rest. Armor pen marks are fine too.
You should usually max R, then W, then E, then Q.
Make sure you have a ward up if you're pushing. If you lost your lane as a result of one or more jungler ganks, chances are you were overextended without sight. Warding the river allows you to push your lane aggressively if need be and can let you zone properly without fear of being ganked.
I think that's as much advice as I can give you without seeing the replay.
Thanks to The_Nameless_Bard for the sig!
Your build should look like
If you get ganked just press Q, W and E. it doesn't matter the order, you'll make it out. Don't worry if you get behind, thankfully Riven can go 0/10 and still carry. As for farming you'll use Q, E and then E. Don't waste money on wards, you can get out of any gank. When you go to kill someone drop Ignite and them Q, W, E and then R. You'll want to get a The Bloodthirster first, then depending on how the enemy team is building you'll want either The Bloodthirster or The Bloodthirster. Hope I helped!

I like what Psi said so I will add to it. your ult has a very low CD so consider semi spamming it to chunk rumble(or kill) because you can easily out damage him with your ult! You have to learn when versing rumble that you have to commit to engages he will win if you back off because he will just chase you down chunking you with harpoons!
Max E first, you'd be surprised how effective it is.

The trick to beating Rumble (like many solo tops) is to know which trades you're going to win. Riven is very good at winning damage trades, especially after level 3. If you prepare for it by runing for some MR and damage, you should be able to E straight into his face when he Qs you and still come out on top. If you're not winning full-on engages, watch for him to use an ability to farm or try to harass. Engaging him with all of your abilities when some of his are on cooldown should make it pretty easy to win trades.
Make sure you farm well too, that's rather key. Like SkullzX said, don't forget to use your ultimate. It gives you a significant advantage as long as it's active and also acts as a great finisher. If you expect to go for a kill, make sure you activate your ult before you start engaging him. Don't just pop it for the active, the AD and autoattack range boost helps a lot as well.

Max E first, you'd be surprised how effective it is.
W first is better unless you're forced into E first. Maxing E will give you a big shield and leave you with a good amount of damage, but often you'd be better off with the extra burst from W. Winning trades isn't all about mitigation after all, you actually have to deal enough damage in return.
But if you are having a difficult lane in which you need the shield to tank his flamespitter damage, you can definitely consider maxing E first. I think for general purposes maxing it second is better.
As long as you're not maxing Q first you're probably fine.

Thanks alot guys, I really appreciate your help =D
Think I understood how to fight not only Rumble but most of the solo top matchups... I was always saving the ult instead of "spamming" it.. And in he Rumble matchup I always try to run away and, as u guys said, he followed me doing lots of dmg.
I'm going to look for a partner to practice this matchup ^^
Thanks again for your time ^^
I'm a little skeptical about "spamming" your ultimate. It is on a low cooldown for sure, but it's still an ultimate ability. I tend to use it when I think I can get a kill. Using it early just lowers your potential burst until it comes off cooldown. Same reason I wouldn't spam Ignite.
But yeah, I think you've identified your own problem. Just rune some MR and damage and you should be able to trade (without minion aggro) at level 3.
Practicing with a friend is a great idea. Keep an eye on who wins trades, especially early ones. Minion aggro is a factor you have to keep in mind as well.
