I had to face a viktor in a ranked, and assumed he would be horrible like pretty much every other Viktor I've seen. However, I have not been able to win a single poking exchange due to his power transfer/death ray combo. He drew on his early game advantage to dominate the laning phase. Any tip? Can a good Viktor be considered a counter to Vlad?

P.s. Im not the best player so maybe I've just been outskilled but I still want to know. =D

I haven't heard of it, but I suppose a GOOD - insert champ here - can usually counter any -insert champ here-.

:D

A good Viktor can be vicious early game though. I feel your pain.

I don't really think so. It might be the other way around.

Troll pool 2stronk, dodge Gravity Field and Chaos Storm.

Also, Vlad's Q is instant cast, so Viktor loses out on most trades even though he has his Q.

His Power Transfer has a lower cooldown until vlad starts hitting rank 4 and 5 of Transfusion, mix that up with the harass from Death Ray and it looks like Viktor wins trades.

What Zeprido said. Late game vlad might win over Viktor, but vlad is weak early game where Viktor shines. Maybe saying its a counter is too strong of a term but its still a hard matchup imo.

I'm a Viktor player, and play on strengthening his early game to take better advantage of his super strong mid game (400 AP at 25 is really strong), to get there, I usually have resistances and movespeed in my runes/masteries which wouldn't make it easier for Vlad, he's not a counter, just strong earlier.

Now Morde imo is a counter to Vlad as he mitigates Vlad's harass with his shield and forces him to last hit with skills under the tower, not to mention his ult ignite combo goes through troll pool when cast before it.

Blargh.

Facing viktor for me was always going to be more down to chance than anything due to how his laser sometimes doesnt show the path its taking. ERgo, you're left to just derpily choose a route and pray that's not where the laser is.

I dunno how Vlad's troll pool can dodge viktor's ulti if the ulti is already on your face silencing you -.-

It all depends on style play. I hate playing Vladimir aggressively early game coz you don't have the kit except versus a few champs. Besides, people often mistime the pool and waste it (or suicide with it, which is funnier). Starting the game, I actually recommend playing versus anyone with an attitude of ability measuring, overconfidence frequently goes wrong
Thank you Byron for 2014's loudest laugh up till today
