I often publish and archive unfinished guides so I can show them to people...if I could show an unpublished guide to someone, this wouldn't be a problem.

I could delete an unpublished guide, haven't tried with archived guides. Dunno why you would want to delete it, anyways.
because there are people like me who have ~50 guides and only 6 of them are published...and of all the archived ones, only about 5 of them are things we care about.
