Rylai's is a really good item on him actually. The slow, hp, and AP all go really well with his kit. |

Also, with 60% ap scaling combined with amour and hp, he should work quite nice, kinda like a galio mid, but this dude can just jump to you every 10 sec (without cooldowns) taunt you and Q heal off you, combined with a slow from rylais, he should be able to zone nicely,
you gotta care for ranged harras, but aigenst someone as brand who is chaining, when he pops he W  Pillar of Flame you could just taunt jump him, q heal of him, and you would get an quite nice trade out of that.

Shen's taunt now has an ap ratio, he dash into the enemy slows them with rylais , then active your Zhouya's Glass, and ulti to save your teammate then >< .... these are all in theory, but it would be better to put some ap items on him.

His AP ratios are horrible, though they are still there. You actually do a lot more damage by spending the same amount of gold on health, just losing a very small amount of utility. Yes,
 Rylai's Crystal Scepter is great on him.

I think AP Shen is cool, because it allows your
shield to do it's job on allies way more effectively. I mean, it sucks when you shield someone, only to have them die before you teleport to them, due to the shield and them, not lasting long enough against the damage. As the others said, it could be good, if you also do make sure to give him some health. In fact, I'm going to try AP Shen now. There should be an item ingame which turns HP into AP, gives cdr and magic resistance. This would be a nice
 Shen-item. It would be the counterpart for mages to  Atma's Impaler.I also create another item for this which builds into this: Name: ??? Cost: 900 gold Unique Passive: 10% cdr This and  Negatron Cloak build into it.

I Will think a little more about it and come ud with an item build / other stuff, but i kinda wanted to hear what other people would say to it.
Btw, idk if you say hé would be better as top or jungler, we are talking about ap shen and how it would work, not how to "top Lane like a a bawz"
