Also if there was an item that gave you ap based on your hp then vlad could get it and get an infinite amount of both thanks to his passive... I could see them making an item that had a passive like madred's that scaled with your health instead of the enemy's though lol. That'd be funny.

Ap shen = nope in my opinion. I use to get rylai's on him but now I don't even bother anymore.
I just go unkillable tank with massive amounts of hp and resistences. I still do a massive amount of burst damage to squishies out of my passive and my q. I'm the team's tank, so why would I build anything that gives me more damage? apart from hp cause your abilities work with your hp.  Thanks to Amazing Monkey for the sig. Actually, I use Magic Pen runes + Armor + Ability power quints and seals when using Shen coz I feel it helps me doing more substantial damage from his passive and First Skill. Then I take HP + Armor build. Nothing unusual though.
