The problem with maxing W over Q is the lack of damage in my opinion - yes, you are sustained, but you're losing a ton of damage.

Trundle isn't played atm because his animations and his mana costs suck. Because of his animations, he can't chase anyone.

Clasic boots+3pots/cloth+5pots -> tabi's+glacial shroud/mercs+hexdrinker, then get glacial if you didnt get it yet.
Trinity Force+Frozen heart are core items, you can go either more tanky with warmogs/aegis, or more damage with bloodthirster+ghostblade. You definitely want to pick up LW as enemies start to stack armour.
Max Q, if you dominate the lane E>W, when the lane is even or you are losing, max W first for sustain.
You can trade even on lvl 1, your Q delivers insane sustained DPS, try to charge two stacks of it prior to trading tho. If you are really confident, you can go for E+Q harrass. On level six you can even dive safely since your W will heal you for approx. 100-200 hp.
I usually run 15 AD, 13 Armor and Mr/lvl runes.
Run Flash+Ignite ;)
