MOBAFire News

MOBAFire and League of Legends News posted by various authors among the MOBAFire community.

As you've probably noticed, we just launched a nice big update! We are excited for this one, so let's break it down!

Private Messaging

Click "Messages" at the top right while logged in to access the new private messaging system! We tried to strike a balance between keeping it simple, but providing the most useful features. You can start a new private message with a group of people, however after the creation of the discussion it acts like email. Replies cannot be deleted or edited. You also cannot add anyone new to the discussion after it has been created, if you want to bring in more people you'll have to start a new one. You can delete a discussion from your inbox at any time, but you will leave the discussion then - you will not see past messages from it, and you won't receive future messages.

We also included a simple "block" system. You can block any user and they will no longer be able to include you in new discussions. However any existing discussions you are in together will not be affected, you would have to delete those discussions from your inbox.

I think that covers it... Go give it a try!

Player Finder/Matchmaker

Under the new Community menu item you will find links to the forum and guide discussion, as well as a new link to the "Player Finder". This is just a basic search of MOBAFire members to help find people, with some bonus features that let you search for people based on their profile/matchmaking information. We hope that people can make use of this to help find people to play with, but it's also just a handy way to look someone up without fishing around the site for one of their posts :)

Don't forget to go edit your profile and fill in all the new information!

Vanity Titles

Some of you may have discovered a new "Titles" dropdown when editing your profile. We have updated our title system to allow us to give out new and unique titles to you guys and allow you to choose which one you want to display (or to turn it off altogether). We haven't given out any special new titles yet but they will start appearing soon! Note that titles are now basically separate of rank. You can always tell someone's rank on the site by the color of their name, even if their title does not reflect it :)

Other Stuff

Mods can now edit and delete comments. Along with the new PM system, this will help them to deal with obnoxious users and spam more easily. We've also added the "online user" counts to the top bar, just for fun so you can always see how many others are on the site. I think I'm forgetting some other things... Bug fixes and minor tweaks... That's all the important stuff.

If you have ever wondered what its like to have access to a MOBA from the earliest stages, we have the chance for you to do that!

We have secured 40 invites to the upcoming Alpha test for Realm of the Titans, a new MOBA from Aeria Games!

These are only invites, you are not guaranteed access but you definitely won't get access if you don't have an invite!

Enter to win an invite

If you don't get in to the Alpha don't worry, we may be able to round up a few beta keys when they get released.

The contest is operated by MOBAFire and we will not share any of the entrants email addresses with anyone unless you win. If you win we of course must share your email address with Aeria Games.

Tell your friends and good luck!

The Staff

Nocturne has been added! Feel free to start theory-crafting ideas for this new champ :)

We've also introduced a new vote restriction by popular demand. This is a test to see how it plays out, we may disable it at any time. This restriction prevents anyone from voting on a build that contains a champion who was released less than 4 days ago. You will get an error message indicating that you should come back and try to vote again later.

The purpose of this feature is to prevent guides from getting a high score simply by being first out the door. The thinking is that 4 days gives people enough time to put in some solid practice and testing on the new champion, allowing them to produce a much higher quality build. After the 4 days is up, the votes will flood in and the best builds should head to the top quickly.

We are interested in any and all feedback for this feature. Reply to this thread with your thoughts or suggestions!

Server Move In Progress

Edit: Move is complete! If you are reading this, you are on the new server. Grats!

The new server is ready and I have finished configuring it! We have initiated the move. In the next few hours you will start to get a "Site is down for maintenance" message. This will go away after a while and the site will be back to normal in its new, more permanent home :)

I recommend you don't work on your guides on the site in the meantime. If you do continue to work on them, and find yourself unable to save, just leave the tab open and try again in a few hours when the site is back for you and it should save properly.

See you on the other side!!

Jarvan IV has been added! We've also updated the images for Annie, Ashe, Evelynn, Katarina, Soraka and Twitch to the new look (the background images are not updated yet, but will be shortly).

We've also done a pretty big restructure of the code as part of the new caching system. Still more to do but this is a big step towards it. There may be a few bugs as a result of this, so let us know if anything is broken that we missed!

Enjoy :)
