League of Legends (LoL) Question: 1 Crit Rune on Supports?

    1 Crit Rune on Supports?

Considering that ADCs always run 1 crit rune to possibly have a chance to win a trade early game, couldn't supports do the same and possibly increase the chances of winning a trade?

If you have to rely on 0.93% chance of critting to win early trades, you shouldn't be playing ADCs. The same goes with supports. I have that one crit mark but I've never found it useful during the game. It's almost literally unnoticeable.

You're trading 1 AD for basically 1% crit chance. You really don't lose all that much and can potentially gain a lot. I've snowballed off the back of that 1% crit 2-3 times that I can recall.

On supports, though... unless you're AA-ing a lot, I don't really see a reason to get it. Maybe Annie, but she's not really a heavy meta pick anymore.

I use them too because I am aware of their power, but half the time I see the 1/100 attack crit, it's on a damn creep.

I run 2 crit marks in my adc rune pages. They can win lanes which is stupid enough on its own. They also outscale the AD marks by far. On supports I see no reason to run it though.

Almost every supports do not rely on physical damage and even if some do: they never get as much offense as a marksman. The chance of procing the crit on an enemy champion is low in the first place, if you consider the lack of attack damage: it's a bit pointless in the long run. Crit runes can be viable on a marksman, but they are useless and unreliable on a support.

Probably but consider the fact that almost 0 supports have AD and even if you run AD runes on thresh or leona you still build utility and tank. A crit from you won't be as much as a crit from the ADC. Also the fact thresh is low range and leona is melee kinda lowers your ability to even auto in the first place unless you are engaging or getting engaged on.

Probably not a bad idea, but not as useful considering the lower AD amount.

I feel vaguely redundant for bothering to post, but I pretty much agree with everyone who already responded. There are basically no supports who would benefit more from a tiny bit of crit chance than they would from pure AD, Magic/Hybrid penetration, or, in very few situations, armor marks.

With that logic, what would stop a support from using all crit runes, instead of just one? The fact of the matter is that supports aren't meant to do the damage in lane, but more keep their adc alive. A support should be meant to absorb the one off-crit chance from the enemy in lane, not dish another one out.
