League of Legends (LoL) Question: Difference between gold players and silver players.

Difference between gold players and silver players.

    Hey guys.
I was just thinking recently as i am silver 3 at the moment and i was wondering what would the difference be between where i am at and low-ish gold to high gold.

Would their mechanical skills be much higher than my own, better knowledge of the game? Any answers that would help me get to that level of play would be much appreciated.

    Nera

    P.s.:
Thank you everyone for the answers! very much appreciated!:D Will continue to try and improve and reach that beautiful gold:)

From what I perceive, general knowledge and execution seems to be the difference between gold and silver.

Decision making/objective aknowledgement is flat out the worst thing in silver. I've faced enemy laners who were pretty ok-ish to good in terms of mechanics, but they just couldn't understand that receiving a gank doesn't necessarily create favorable events for them (due to low hp/no cc for both parties/slippery assassin who can kill and go).

Furthermore, Silvers are flat out unnable stop themselves from chasing ANYONE who they believe they can kill. Hell, they'd follow them to the enemy nexus if they thought they had a chance to score that kill. In their heads Score = Victory.

i still find gold/high silver players doing/talking/acting like bronze.

I remember some high elo player defining it like this: If you are bronze, you flat out suck at the game; you have bad mechanics AND bad decision making. If you are silver, your mechanics typically are a lot better than people in bronze but you still lack a lot of game knowledge and experience. Climbing from there up to diamond you'll still increase a little bit mechanically but the main difference lies in general decision making.

I would say this is the case. Silvers still make mistakes like Bronze because they just don't know what they should be doing to secure advantages. So they may have good technical skill, but don't know where to direct it.

I am playing LoL for 4 months now and I just finished my provisional ( 4-6 ) and went Silver IV

Hmmm. Those in the Gold Tier are more knowledgeable and not too selfish in playmaking. while in my tier most of the time you see feeding ADCs and Instalock Katas in Mid. I main Top and its really Good (for my case) that there are few players in my tier that really know how to play Solo Top.

I honestly don't see much difference from Silver to Gold.
A couple mechanics and awareness difference, but it's relatively the same, and I guess Gold players just have more confidence when they play.

Silver 1 to Gold 3 there's hardly any difference, but from then on you can notice it. It's not confidence, it's starting to not do dumb stuff like facechecking when you don't know where people are, chasing into unwarded jungle, using your mobility skills early game for harassing (silly Zed players) when you don't know where the enemy jungler is, better farm vs harass/poke/zone managing, more map awareness, more objective awareness,..

i main adc and top, mainly in silver 1 to gold 4. the biggest difference between 2 of them are, silver is really too confident to the point after losing a duel, they keep trying and trying. for example fizz loses to ekko before level 6, yet after level 6 they try the same way again.
meanwhile gold players will try to gank other lane and help others.

and silver pursue kills than objectives. i am pretty good in adc, sometimes i can double or triple
when silver ace, they keep pursuing tower when baron is available. lastly silver likes to split push. it just doesn't work against experienced players

comparing the technical skills between the two tiers esp silver 2,1 to gold 4. there isn't much difference. it just plays down to game knowledge and objectives

Decision making, map awarenes and laning plan .... poking, harrasing, trading. Those are biggest differences.
