League of Legends (LoL) Question: Heal vs Barrier Patch 4.13

    Heal vs Barrier Patch 4.13

Earlier today, someone told me to use Barrier on ADC Vayne instead of Heal, saying that heal was nerfed and didn't nearly give as much health back as barrier does. I responded saying that heal gives you a speed boost (which is good for kiting) and also heals an ally (useful in duo lanes).

However, when I looked at the numbers, barrier did indeed protect for more than heal at all levels, having over an 100 damage difference by level 18.

So what I'm asking is: Is Heal still the meta for ADCs or has that changed and I just haven't caught up yet?

Generally Heal is superior due to the speed boost and the fact it affects two champions at the same time whereas Barrier only affects one. Barrier does allow for more initial damage absorption and has a lower cool down, but Heal's health increment lasts longer than 2 seconds, which makes it superior in longer skirmishes.

Against champions such as Miss Fortune and Tristana this is up for debate due to their built-in heal reduction and might make you switch to Barrier instead.

Another option would be to have your support carry Heal and you, as adc, carry the Exhaust. This is a pretty strong option on carries who have no real escapes and therefore are forced to fight whoever engages on them. Examples include, but are not limited to, Draven, Varus, Jinx.

That's another combo that works, but you will lose out on Exhaust.

Pretty much this. I've seen some pro adcs go Barrier and then asking their supports to go Heal. Works against those all-in comps imo.

I think it ha come down to what support you have. If you have a support like Sona or Soraka (anyone that can keep you health up) taking barrier might be a better choice. If you have a support like Leona or Thresh, taking heal might be better, since you won't really be saving your own life with it.

Why comment when you say nothing at all?

Heal outscales Barrier though. I'm not sure at what level it happens. Atleast it says so in the champ select summoner spell box.

You should probably check the patch notes so clearly put into this question for you before you give misinformation.

That is a bug. rito never fixed the champ select tooltips for it.
