Champion Build Guide

[10.22] In-Depth Ashe Build and Gameplay Guide

By thelolbeast
PROS

+ Perma Slow
+ Engage With Ult
+ Good scailing into late game
+ Poke in Lane
+ Easy to Play

The main reason you would want to pick Ashe is because of her amazing engage with her Enchanted Crystal Arrow. Aside from that she actually deals a lot of damage in teamfights and she is very easy to pick up and play.
CONS

- Squishy
- No Mobility
- Needs peel
- Requires very good positioning
- Somewhat difficult to come back if behind

Ashe's biggest weakness is her immobility, if you don't have your Enchanted Crystal Arrow then you are a free kill for any assassin. That's why she requires peel and god positioning. However, these cons shouldn't stop you from playing Ashe.

Letahl Tempo

We take Lethal Tempo on ashe because she is way stronger with Lethal Tempo than with Press the Attack. Lethal Tempo along with Ranger's Focus she becomes a tank shredding machine. Getting the huge attack speed will let you get that much more attacks with your Ranger's Focus.

Overheal

Although Triumph is sweet, but I prefer Overheal. With Triumph you will get a heal when getting kills, but in teamfights Overheal is better because, for the most part, we only need to survive the assassin / divers on the enemy team and Overheal will assist us with that. Once the initial threat is gone we don't really need the heal anymore.

Legend: Alacrity

I take Legend: Alacrity instead of Legend: Bloodline because we get lifesteal in our item. The reason you would take Legend: Bloodline is because you don't get lifesteal until your last items, but rushing Blade of the Ruined King eliminates the need of extra lifesteal so we are good taking Legend: Alacrity

Coup de Grace

The small amount of damage from Coup de Grace definitely helps out when finishing off people on low HP. With your melting potential you should be getting your enemies below 40% easily so you will easily be triggering Coup de Grace.

Magical Footwear

With Magical Footwear we get free boots so we don't have to buy Boots and can focus on getting our core items. Also the extra movement speed on Berserker's Greaves will stick with you for the rest of the game, so that's a huge bonus.

Approach Velocity

Approach Velocity gives you 15% bonus movement speed against slowed target, and basically Ashe is the queen on slows, having a perma-slow on her Frost Shot and Volley so whenever you are fighting someone you will have 15% bonus movement speed.

Flash + Heal

Pretty self explanatory, just like every ADC you take Flash and Heal because there are the best options that help you survive in teamfights and carry them. You could also possibly choose Barrier if your supports decides to take Heal.

Doran's Blade

Doran's Blade is the best starting item for most ADC's. It gives you 2 less AD than a Long Sword but it provides you with a little extra sustain aswell as suvivability with the health and lifesteal.

Blade of The Ruined King

The main reason we get Blade of the Ruined King as our first item is because of the on-hit damage. Ashe's Ranger's Focus applies on-hit effects, making Blade of the Ruined King a very important item for her. You will also get your most imporant stats: Attack Damage, Lifesteal and Attack Speed.

Berserker's Greaves

Most of Ashe's damage comes from her basic attacks and that's why attack speed is one of your most important stats. Sometimes you could get Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads when you need extra defensive stats. But most of the time you should get Berserker's Greaves

Runaan's Hurricane

After getting Blade of the Ruined King we want to start building some crit items. We start off with a Zeal item, which should preferably be Runaan's Hurricane because of the extra damage, but if you feel the need of extra survivability you can get Phantom Dancer now and Runaan's Hurricane as you 2nd zeal item.

Infinity Edge

After getting Runaan's Hurricane you should get Infinity Edge to add damage to your crits. It gives you a lot of flat AD and makes your critical strikes deal 225% instead of 200% damage which will hugely increase your damage output.

Phantom Dancer

If you didn't get it earlier, now is the time to get Phantom Dancer. Another Zeal item means more attack speed and a higher chance to crit, which is amazing especially now that we have our Infinity Edge. We aren't in need of life steal since we already have our Blade of the Ruined King

Guardian Angel

We have already gotten a lot of damage and it is time to get a defensive item. My favorite final and defensive item is Guardian Angel because of the revive which makes you a major threat in teamfights. It also gives some armor and has a pretty good build path with Stopwatch.

Frost Show

Ashe's basic attacks and abilities apply Frost to enemies, slowing them by 20-30% for 2 seconds and causing subsequent basic attack against them to deal 10%(+(100%+ Infinity Edge critial strike chance)AD bonus physical damage with they remain slow.
Ashe's critical strikes deal no additional damage, but double Frost slow strength to 40-60% decaying over 1 second to its normal strength.

Ranger's Focus

While Ranger's Focus is inactive, Ashe's basic attacks grant Focus for 4 seconds on attack, stacking up to 4 times. After 4 seconds, each stack thereafter will fall off every second.
Ashe gains bonus attack speed for 4 seconds and causes each of her basic attacks to fire a flurry of five arrows.
Flurries trigger on-hit effects only once, and each arrow deals modified physical damage that benefits from Frost Shot and life steal.
Ranger's Focus resets Ashe's basic attack timer.

Volley

Ashe fires 9 arrows in a cone in the target direction, dealing physical damage to enemies, and applying Critical Slow to enemy Champion icon champions.

Hawkshot

Ashe periodically stocks a Hawkshot charge, up to a maximum of 2.
Ashe sends a hawk spirit toward the target location, exposing the area along its path for 2 seconds and in a large radius at its destination for 5 seconds.

Enchanted Crystal Arrow

Ashe fires a missile of ice in the target direction. The arrow shatters upon hitting an enemy champion, dealing magic damage and stunning them for 1 − 3.5 (based on distance traveled) seconds.

Laning Phase

At level 1, you will want to get your Volley and you should start pushing the first wave in order to hit level 2 first. If you get level 2 first you can try to go aggressive, but the outcome depends mostly on your support. If your opponents get level 2 first, fall back and don't let them engage on you while they have the level advantage.

After this you should try to freeze the minion wave close to your tower, but outside of tower range. This will give you 2 benefits:
1. You will be under your tower, and thus you will be safe
2. Your opponents will be far away from their tower, which means they have to overextend in order to CS, making them easy to engage on and making them an easy gank target.

In order to make a freeze, you are going to need the enemy minion wave to have more minions. Let your entire wave die and stand under tower tanking the enemy minions without letting them get in tower range. Now just last hit the enemy minions making sure the enemy minion wave constantly has about 3 more caster minions than yours.

In the laning phase you should be looking to poke the enemy ADC when they are going for cs. Keep an eye on your minions and see when a minion is low, the enemy will want to get it and while they are auto attacking your minion, you can auto attack them as they can't fight back.

If a fight is about to start outside of bottom lane, try to quickly push the minion wave with your Volley, your enemies will be forced to stay bot or to lose XP and gold.

If you kill your opponents, push the wave to make them lose more minions and try to get some turret plates. Also, don't forget about dragon, especially if it's infernal or mountain drake.

For the most part, try to get as much CS and maybe some kills if there is an opportunity, stay safe and try to get objectives, turrets and dragons.

Out of Lane

Once laning phase is over, you have your Blade of the Ruined King and maybe a few more items, which means that you are getting stronger and stronger. Stay grouped with your team and keep focusing on objectives.

You can use your Enchanted Crystal Arrow to get some picks if you see a misspositioned enemy. Remember to use your Hawkshot to your advantage to get vision.

You should always be doing something in your favor, wether that be farming, pushing etc. and never just walking around wondering what to do. Usually, if you have the first tower mid and bot, you should try to push top, get herald etc.

Keep in mind that one of the easiest ways to win a game is by getting baron buff which can be pretty easy using Ashe's insane on hit damage.

Teamfighting

In all of my ADC guides I mention that the most important part of winning a teamfights as an ADC is POSITIONING. You should be staying in the far back of your team, usually near your support which is keeping you safe and melting their frontline.

You don't have much mobility, but if you are good at kiting and can survive their initial burst, your slows should be enough to keep you safe, otherwise make sure to tell your team that you need protection.

If you see a good opening to start a fight, such as a misspositioned carry don't be afraid to use your Enchanted Crystal Arrow to start a fight. If you kill their ADC/APC before the fight, you instantly win the fight and should be able to close out the game. 1 arrow could easily win you the game if it's at the right place at the right time.

If you haven't used your Enchanted Crystal Arrow to start the fight, you should always use it to self peel. When somebody jumps on you, just stun them and delete them from the fight.

Always keep in mind that you should be staying in the far back of your team and focusing their frontline.

Thank you for making it till the end of the guide. I hope you learned something about playing Ashe. Good luck and have fun :)
