[10.16] Bizzleberry's Season 10 Yuumi Guide

By Terroronyou
Hi, my name is Bizzleberry and I am a longtime League of Legends player, playing since before Season 1. Over the years I have achieved high ranking in solo queue, from Platinum in Season 1 (the highest at the time) to Challenger multiple times throughout the years. I used to stream in season 4-5 and stopped playing League for a year during season 6. I have now returned and am currently in Master as a support main. You can catch me on my stream or my Youtube channel. I try to explain what I am doing in most situations; feel free to ask any questions on stream or leave a comment on the guide!

I will keep this guide updated to 100% accuracy for the first few months of release.
Why Yuumi? Back to Top
Yuumi is a very unique champion in which she is able to attach to allies and be immune to almost all-damage and able to cast skills and abilities still based on where the ally you are attached to is. In large teamfights this means you are able to dash around to the front line in order to set-up big AoE plays or stick to kiting and hunting down an enemy trying to escape!

Yuumi has the option of taking NO escape summoners, so she is able to use Exhaust and Ignite in the laning phase enabling both you and your ADC to hairball, i mean, snowball early!
Rune - Current Favourite Back to Top

Current strongest Build

Summon Aery Provides minor poke damage on both your Q and your Auto Attacks, and also provides a minor shield when you heal or whenever you attach to a new ally.

Manaflow Band

Manaflow Band Is the only clear option here, gives you a little bit more mana regen, although not really needed, the other 2 runes in this branch of Sorcery are really bad for Yuumi.

Transcendence or Absolute Focus

Transcendence will put you closer to the CDR cap quicker and when you do bypass it you are not punished by taking addition CDR which could easily be the case. Absolute Focus is also a good option due to the fact you largely should be above the health required to get the additional adaptive force. Absolute Focus for early game, Transcendence for mid-game+. Since this build is focusing on getting an advantage early, I recommend Absolute Focus.

Gathering Storm

Gathering Storm is massively better at 10m+ than Scorch.

Secondary Runes

Presence of Mind

Presence of Mind Will give you extra mana throughout the game which is much needed, especially early. Will also give you mana during teamfights which during early laning phase can be really clutch to save an ally due to the extreme mana costs early.

Cut Down

Cut Down give a minor DPS increase because Yuumi's base HP is very low so it will be easily to get some benefit from this rune.
Runes - Other builds Back to Top

Arcane Comet / Aery Utility Builds

You are free to choose between Arcane Comet & Summon Aery. Generally Arcane Comet will provide you with the most pressure, particularly during the laning phase. Your Prowling Projectile will slow the enemy so almost guarenting that your Arcane Comet will land providing extra dps. Summon Aery has more uses since you are already on top of your target and even in the heat of battle Zoomies will easy cast Summon Aery. It is also worth noting that You and Me! will also apply Summon Aery, so if you have a Ardent Censer but you have no shield from your passive Bop 'n' Block then this can be another way to pass over the Ardent Censer buff.

Absolute Focus for early game, Transcendence for mid-game+ .

Scorch or Gathering Storm

Scorch Will give you more laning power, but falls off quickly compared to Gathering Storm. Rule of thumb, Scorch is better until 10m. Both are even between 10m and 20m. Gathering Storm is massively better at 20m+.

Secondary Runes

Shield Bash

Procs every time you activate your passive, extra minor bonus damage.

Revitalize. This is the reason we take Resolve runes. Works very well with the burst healing with Zoomies when your ally is low on health. Revitalize also works with Yuumi's passive Bop 'n' Block.
Runes - Glacial Augment Back to Top

Glacial Augment - If you need Engage / Disengage

Glacial Augment - This is your keystone and will activate on auto-attacks and when slowing items such as Hextech GLP-800 and Twin Shadows are used. Yuumi can use items when she is attached, however she can't auto-attack.

Make good use after using your abilities to un-attach off your ally to auto attack to help chase or kite enemies. The slows make it very nice for when you are on your engage to help land their own skillshots or hunt them down!

Magical Footwear

Magical Footwear - We don't really need boots like other champions, however, you can find yourself in some situations where you are on your own, like warding, or having to run back from lane. This is more of a quality of life item and you can always sell them to make rune for another AP / Utility item down the line.

Future's Market

Future's Market - Since you won't be needing the extra regen from Biscuit Delivery, we can use this rune to buy a cheeky Control Ward or finish an item so we don't need to wait in base and waste an opportunity for a faster walk back to lane by attaching on an ally!

Cosmic Insight

Cosmic Insight Works nicely with your lower cooldown's on summoners and items. Overall a good rune.

Secondary Runes

Ingenious Hunter

Ingenious Hunter - This will allow your item CDR low so you can sometimes get to use them twice in teamfights, or long skirmishes.

Eyeball collection

Eyeball Collection - Stacks up your Adaptive Force so your latched target also gets a small benefit from this rune.

You will lose out on Item CDR however you can opt into more reliable AP & CDR with Transcendence and Gathering Storm.

I will develop Guardian and Aery builds VERY SOON!
Summoner Spells Back to Top
Yuumi has the luxury of not needing Flash and Ghost as You and Me! attaching tool allows you to dart around enough as it is and will help you avoid damage.

I would advise you to go Ignite AND Exhaust. This will give you a lot of aggression for early in the laning phase to get a quick kill.

Other options could include, Yuumi taking Heal and the ADC taking Barrier or Teleport. The downside is Yuumi will very rarely need the heal, so your ADC could be healing another target and speeding them in at later teamfights.
Abilities Back to Top
When you start the game you will start automatically with one point in You and Me!. This also means your skill order is already slightly strange because it means you can have 6 points in your Q Prowling Projectile.

As of 10.13 - You still want to Max Q Prowling Projectile, and Max E Zoomies second. The %max mana cost on Zoomies make it so that you will need to ensure you take multiple Faerie Charms throughout the game in order to have the passive mana-regen in order to do your heals.
Items Back to Top

Spellthief's Edge

Spellthief's Edge has now changed to auto-upgrade to Frostfang (500 gold collected) and Shard of True Ice (1000g collected) from the Tribute gold quest.

You are now allowed to receive gold from hits on enemies / turrets without an ally nearby. You can also 'accidentally' get cs from throwing out skillshots in lane without being punished (Until you meet the Support Rule CS Limit which won't kick in until around 30-40 Creeps Taken, depending on what time it is in the game).

Shard of True Ice

The final Support Quest upgrade. You will no longer generate tribute gold, but the stats on this item for 'free' are very good for mid-game and also supply you with 4-ward charges that can be refreshed when you go back to the fountain.

Athene's Unholy Grail

Athene's Unholy Grail Provides massive heals as long as you have poked the enemy beforehand. If you are going the utility route this is generally a safe first pick as Yuumi you will be poking and building up charges in order to do stronger heals. Also gives you decent AP progression throughout the game when buying more mana regen items such as Redemption or Ardent Censer.

Luden's Echo

FOR DPS BUILD ONLY - Luden's Echo will provide you with a big damage increase for the mid-game. You will generate movement charges when you are attached so don't worry about that. This item will solve all your mana issues also.

Rabadon's Deathcap

Rabadon's Deathcap will give you and your attached target a lot of extra damage / adaptive damage. Yuumi scales well with AP so your heals and damage output will be a lot stronger.

Hextech GLP-800

Hextech GLP-800 is the first core item you will go for with Glacial Augment. You are able to use items while attached so ideally you will be using this when engaging when attached to a bruiser/tank going in for a flank or straight into the front line. Will provide mass initial AoE Slows and a respectable amount of damage. Also will provide you with an additional 20% Cooldown Reduction so will put you closer to the cap.

Twin Shadows

Twin Shadows is the second core item you will go for with Glacial Augment. You are able to use items while attached so ideally you will be using this when chasing down an enemy by themselves, kiting the enemy away or simply using to scout to see whereabouts the enemy is currently hiding in the fog of war. Note: Twin Shadows does not seek already stealth targets!

Redemption is currently one of the best utility support items in the game. It is a soft counter to poke comps, but is usually purchased because of the versatility of the item. Provides a massive heal AoE heal, at a very long distance and can be used while dead. It can be a massive game changer when used in the centre of a teamfight.

Ardent Censer

Ardent Censer works well with a hyper carry that is doing well during the laning phase. Examples of ADC's that largely benefit from Ardent Censer are Jinx, Twitch, Kog'Maw, Vayne. Do not bother purchasing if there are no hyper carries doing well, as you would be better taking Redemption or Athene's Unholy Grail to help your other teammates potentially doing well early.

Mikael's Crucible

Mikael's Crucible is an OK item. It no longer heals and provides the target with a cleanse. If you are quick it can disable Death Sentence but would likely be used to stop basic annoying cc such as Wither, Frenzying Taunt, stuns and fears. I only recommend this for experienced players due to the fact that having to pay attention to so many things already that keeping an eye for CC also can be a bit too much.

Locket of the Iron Solari

Locket of the Iron Solari will be wasted on Yuumi due to her low base HP and no need to take resistances.
How to play Yuumi Back to Top
During the laning phase, your Q Prowling Projectile is on a relatively high cooldown so be active and un-attach from your ally often. Auto attack minion waves to try and get a level advantage and try and proc Bop 'n' Block as often as possible to provide your ally a shield when you use You and Me! back on to your ally.

Prowling Projectile should be used often as possible during the laning phase. If your ally is too close to a unit in melee range, you will need to spawn Prowling Projectile behind your ally and do a huge curve back in to get to the target in front. This is to ensure that the bonus damage and slow take effect.

Zoomies has one charge at a semi-large cooldown however provides a massive heal and attack speed to your target. Gives a lot of healing once you acquire %healing items.

In fights try and be as active as possible and prioritise surviving over everything else. For example, if the enemy jungler is coming down, try and use Prowling Projectile to slow the jungler to give yourself more time to get to the turret. Use Zoomies for the extra movement speed to help dodge engaging skillshots. Detach and Auto for Shield with Bop 'n' Block.

Try and save your ultimate Final Chapter for when you get tower dived or setting up a fight. Don't forget you can use You and Me! to another ally and continue the channelling and you can detach to help re-angle your ult if your ally is going the wrong way.
