INTRODUCTION
In this guide I'll be talking about how to play . My name is Vodka and I main the support role. One of my mains are: Sona, Lux(in mid lane, I play her as support in normal games) and Leona. I hope you have fun with this guide and it will be useful to you.

I've been playing league for over 6 years now but only recently decided to play it a bit more seriously. On that note if you ever want to play together you can always DM me and we can play a few matches.

Tahm Kench is great for playing support and a lot of fun as well. His Q is fun to poke with, your W can save lives and allow turret diving in early levels, his E takes him out of fishy situations (haha, great pun) and his ult allows him to travel long distances which can be helpful while stealing dragons or moving somewhere fast.

I personally don't see many Tahm Kench players playing him in the support role anymore but I still do it from time to time so I wanted to make this guide for those who still do as well. Hopefully you'll enjoy it. Good luck!

WHY TAHM KENCH?
WHY TAHM KENCH?

Tahm Kench is an extremely viable support pick, especially into opposing melee supports. He still has the ability to save his ADC from hard cc and if you take cleanse you're basically ungankable. The enemy bot will never be able to all in you. His R, even prior to level 11, is still a great tool to create flanks if you and your adc are fed OR if you want to deliver your jungler behind enemy lines, and is still busted when it comes to picking off people in sidelanes post lvl 11 and making crazy rotations/roams. And with the increase in his damage he becomes even more a lane bully than before.

It's not my video but it is very educational and I suggest watching it if you're just bored and want to watch something.
PROS & CONS

PROS

→ tanky
→ good dueling
→ good utility
→ can make any ally untargetable
→ pretty decent damage

CONS

→ decision-based
→ lack of mobility
→ subparp wave clear
→ no gapclosers
→ no movespeed buffs

ABILITIES
PASSIVE ABILITY
An Acquired Taste
✦ Tahm Kench puts the heft of his immense body behind his attacks and abilities, gaining extra damage based on his total health. Damaging enemy champions builds stacks of An Acquired Taste. At three stacks, he can use Devour on an enemy champion.
✦ You have to stank this ability for CC which could be a CON, but you Q will still slow the enemies either way.

Q
Tongue Lash
✦ Tahm Kench lashes out with his tongue, damaging and slowing the first unit hit. This ability gains a stun after three stacks of An Acquired Taste.
✦ This is a great poking tool and deals a lot of damage, if you want to go for even more I suggest you go for the Hail of Blades rune since then it will be even more powerful.

W
Devour
✦ Tahm Kench devours a target, dealing a percentage of their maximum health as magic damage. He can spit devoured minions and monsters out as a skillshot that deals magic damage in an area upon impact.
✦ This is great for saving lives, if an enemy stuns your ADC you can easily use this ability to get them out if it. Early game turret diving can be done if you time this correctly. Also, for poking you can use this with minions as well.

E
Thick Skin
✦ Tahm Kench turns incoming damage into gray health. As gray health decays, Tahm Kench is healed for a percentage of the gray health amount. When activated, this ability turns all gray health into a shield.
✦ This is useful for running away since it can save you, dodge ults while tricking the enemies that this ability isn't ready for you yet and again turret dive!

R
Abyssal Voyage
✦ Tahm Kench teleports across the map, and he may bring one ally champion with him.
✦ This is great for moving across the map, even by yourself. I usually use this while stealing dragons/barons, moving more quickly to defend a turret, pushing faster or getting a kill when they thought they can recall at that one tiny bush.

SPELLS

SUMMONER SPELLS
-
FLASH: Flash is the best summoner spell in the game. Everyone should use it and Tahm Kench isn't an excuse. It's a great spell for running away, dodging or even engaging. Sometimes if you can save a life you can flash to an ally to save them, finish them off with your Q while flashing or just simply running away. Take this.
EXHAUST: Exhaust targets an enemy champion, reducing their damage dealt by 40% and slows them by 30% for 2.5 seconds. This can help your ADC to catch an enemy that is running away or eliminate some of the damage the enemy does. It is a useful spell for any support. I recommend taking this over ignite if you're dealing against a DPS.
IGNITE: Ignite is also a viable option, targeting an enemy champion, dealing 70-410 true damage (depending on champion level) over 5 seconds and applying Grievous Wounds to them for the duration. It will give you burst damage and can be picked over exhaust.

FIRST INSIGHT
// He's very strong at stopping all-ins with W, but he can't
help his teammate (or himself) from getting poked. Enchanter/Mage supports beat him.
SECOND INSIGHT
// W does a decent amount of damage since it's based on max HP. However, Tahm will typically save W to protect an ally.
THIRD INSIGHT
// Q will stun if he has 3 stacks of passive P on you.
FOURTH INSIGHT
// Tahm becomes grounded and is slowed by 95% for the duration of W if he targets a champion.

FIRST SPIKE
// W can save allies by eating them or spitting them out just over thin walls, including the walls of the Baron and Dragon pits. This also makes abilities like Anivia's wall or Jarvan IV's ultimate effectively irrelevant when Tahm is saving someone.
SECOND SPIKE
// The range increase per rank on R makes him even more terrifying as the game unfolds. Opens up opportunities to find flanks with a carry behind a teamfight.
THIRD SPIKE
// W will prevent his teammate from taking any more damage (outside of already-applied DoT), making him the best support to protect allies during ganks.
FOURTH SPIKE
// Has the potential to heavily influence the map when he roams with R, especially when he brings an ally with him.
FIFTH SPIKE
// Can spam E off-cooldown during extended trades to seriously limit the amount of damage he would normally take due to the constant shielding.

FIRST WEAKNESS
// Relies way too heavily on W as a champion. Once it's used, he is significantly less effective.
SECOND WEAKNESS
// Is countered extremely easily by mobility or poke champions in lane. E's healing will not be enough to keep him healthy.
THIRD WEAKNESS
// His all-in is fairly telegraphed. If he misses Q, he can't close the distance.
FOURTH WEAKNESS
// Completely immobile during combat.
WARDING

WARDING IS IMPORTANT

There are a variety of wards and you should know how/when to use them
I'll add an image to the most important places to ward and where you should be in control of the vision. Also, if you're starting with Relic Shield do not forget to change your Stealth Ward to an Oracle Lens because it is not only important to put down your wards, but also deny vision for the enemy team.
CONTROL WARD
CONTROL WARD

Grants sight over the surrounding 900 units. But a Control Ward also:
Reveals and disables enemy wards (excluding Control Ward).
Reveals enemy traps.
Reveals camouflaged champions.

The Control Ward is exposed to enemies while it is revealing one of the above stealthed units, or granting vision of a Prophet of an Elder God Tentacle.

Life span: Indefinite.
Limit: 1.
Visible: Yes.
Health: 4, regenerates after 6 seconds of not being attacked.
Bounty: 30 Gold and 40 Experience.
STEALTH WARD
STEALTH WARD

Grants sight over the surrounding 900 units.

Life span: 150 seconds.
Limit: 3 placed, shared with Totem wards.
Visible: Stealth.
Health: 3.
Bounty: 30 Gold and 40 Experience.
Source:
Targon's Buckler/ Bulwark of the Mountain.
Runesteel Spaulders/ Pauldrons of Whiterock.
Frostfang/ Shard of True Ice.
Harrowing Crescent/ Black Mist Scythe
WARDING PLACES

The dots represent where you should ward. The 2 most important wards are numbered 1 and 2. These wards should always be placed so you know that the enemy jungle is ganking or someone is rotating to your lane. The other wards are optional but very useful no matter what. Example: Ward 6 will let you see the enemy jungle taking Rift Scuttler or about to take dragon, maybe the mid laner coming into your lane. Ward numbered 5 might let you see a jungler like Rengar waiting to turret dive you and so on.

CONCLUSION
Final words
Hopefully you enjoyed this guide and will leave a rating and/or a comment, I'd really appreaciate it. I'm not very good at creating guides or making them as useful as some others out here but I put a lot of hard work and love into it. It's not finished yet but make sure to come by again to see it fully made. Good luck playing Tahm Kench!
Tahm Kench is personally one of my favorite supports out there. His whole character in general from voice lines to looks is very great and unique. I'd also like to thank the voice actor of Tahm Kench and may he rest well. :)

NOTES:

Tahm Kench is one of those champions that a lot of people might enjoy playing. He is tanky but provides great damage, he can CC, save lives and easily run away or run in! I hope this guide will maybe have you thinking of picking him up. Give this champion some love he deserves.

Known by many names throughout history, the demon Tahm Kench travels the waterways of Runeterra, feeding his insatiable appetite with the misery of others. Though he may appear singularly charming and proud, he swaggers through the physical realm like a vagabond in search of unsuspecting prey. His lashing tongue can stun even a heavily armored warrior from a dozen paces, and to fall into his rumbling belly is to tumble into an abyss from which there is little hope of return.
